Amazing host family

June 07, 2019by: Kylie M - United States

Next week I'm leaving and I'm sad because I'm going to miss everybody: my host family, my teachers and friends. This experience has been the best of my life. I can't believe the school year has gone by so fast. Time flies fast when you're too busy with things you love and enjoy. At first it was difficult because I had never been so far away from my family. I studied German for almost 3 years before coming here and understanding people was not a problem. I already knew the language, but the German customs and culture was new to me. Thank God, my host parents were always there for me. We shared many things in common with my host brothers. They are a very active family. On weekends we did a lot of things. Shopping, sports, outings. Really, I was very lucky to have participated in a school exchange. Thanks Nacel for all your support as well. You guys’ve been very friendly and professional! My country is very far from Germany, but I know that I will come back here very soon. My dream is to be able to study at a German university. Germany is much better than my country and I feel very lucky to be studying here for the school year. I could not have asked for a better study abroad experience! Thanks again for all your help! I am enjoying very much my stay in Germany. Best Regards xoxo!

Best year of my life

Hi! I had the best year of my life in Germany. I hope to experience another immersion program in the near future. At first, I was very nervous before leaving my country but then I felt better. My family was very supportive and they always been there for me. My host family was very cool as well. They helped me a lot when I didn't understand my homework. Now we’re really close friends with my host brother even if he supports a different football team. At the beginning of my stay, I was shy, but once I become more confident with family and classmates, I started talking a lot more. So, I can say that my german improved a lot. At least, I understand better German rap songs than before! The teachers were very patient and always made me feel comfortable at school. I tried my best to get good grades. Even if I had to study a lot at school, I also had time to go out with my friends as well. This experience has given me so much to take home that I don't know how to describe it. I never thought I could have studied abroad. But I could. I feel very lucky. Germany is amazing!

Germany is better than I expected

This year I was able to do my first semester of 10th Grade in Germany. When the end of the program arrived. I was very sad to go back to my country because in Germany I really had a great time. I met many new friends that I hope to see them again very soon. I learned many new things. My host family was very good to me. They were very supportive when sometimes I didn't understand my school homework very well. I learned new phrases in German and I understood better the grammar stuff that I had always found hard to understand. I really recommend this High school exchange in Germany program with Nacel. I will try to come back the next year, but for a whole year.

Very good program!

This has been a great choice, I was not too sure about what to expect from this program, but all those doubts end up as soon as my experience started, it was clear to me that this was far from what I used to know as "travel" and far more from what I learned from german in my hometown. My language comprehension evolution has been great and my host family is simply a great support for the whole experience.

This program was exactly what I expected and more. From the beginning, I was looking for a program that provides me with the opportunity to really improve the german level and at the same time explore their culture, not as a spectator but as an active participant, and all of this in a short period of time, now I can say I accomplish my expectations with this program. My host family was great and Nacel team was an incredible and guide and support during the whole experience. 6 weeks that really changed my views and me as a person.

Thank you!

Travelled to Germany to improve the language. This experience helped me to mature and most importantly to know a new culture and make friends that I hope will be for all my life. The early days were a bit hard but the welcome from my host family was so good it helped me to adapt quickly. At school my mates were always special and we even could agree to go to school by bike. I sincerely hope someday to return.

Great times in Germany!

I can speak about everything with my host family. We do a lot of activities together. To love with a family is necessary to improve the German skills. I have started to speak a bit more and be more confident. There are still subjects at school that are difficult to understand (Maths and Biology), but it’s better than at the beginning. I feel better at school, I got accustomed.
