A little way off the beaten track
September 27, 2022by: Joseph Nagel - New ZealandI’ve always been the type who enjoys the road less travelled, which is why I chose to do my internship in Hokkaido! Tokyo just doesn’t have that much of an appeal to me, its way too crowded, full of tourists, and too fast-paced. Hokkaido is the opposite of everything I just said! I worked with a small business locally-famous for it’s milk, (when I first tried it, I immediately understood why… Hokkaido milk is no joke!) which was an area of business I never imagined myself working in. Although I was working more on the admin side of things and never even touched a cow while I was there, I really enjoyed being in the presence of a group of people so passionate about their craft. They also really valued their workers, every morning we gathered for a short catch up talk and drunk milk together (I mostly used this as an opportunity to show off the Japanese I’d learnt) - you wouldn’t find that in Tokyo! Hokkaido is just awesome. The countryside is like being on another planet, yet you still have these bustling urban cities like Sapporo. I will say it’s not quite for the faint of heart though, the winters are pretty brutal and you should be prepared to have your life temporarily dictated by the weather. With that being said, I’d definitely recommend Hokkaido as an internship destination, and make sure to try the milk while you’re there!
My internship with Meiji in Osaka
September 21, 2022by: Lucia Delgado - SpainI would like to praise Meiji Internships for finding me the very high quality placement for my internship. I could ask them any question and they would address my problem. They always immediately to help me. Additionally, they helped us not only before the internship but also during it, and it is thanks to them because I got a great opportunity to see my dream city of OSAKA! My internship was with IT, and I helped my company with the IT tasks for their new product launch. Sometimes the work was a bit difficult but really I am not here for an easy time! Because it was difficult I felt that I could learn so much. To be specifically, I have now mastered Microsoft Excel, and also website softwares like Wordpress and Webflow. These are really useful experience to have, and can make the job finding really easier. I have dreamed of this city even when I was a child, so I could not believe to be working in there for 2 month. In this 2 month I had seen everything that is in Osaka, including my favourites which are the universal studios and also the aquarium which is so huge! It is also the best place in the world for food. I was scared that I would be miss the food of Spain, but I think now that I like Osaka food more than Spain hehehe. If you go to Osaka I advise you to try the okonomiyaki and the takoyaki, you can see it everywheree! If you dream to see Osaka and also experience, I advise you turn to Meiji Internships. I am certain they will help you and you will have the best time :]
Foreigner-friendly internship programs
September 09, 2022by: Peter Bos - NetherlandsI think Meiji did a great job both before and throughout my stay in Japan. Thank you for always replying to my enquiries in a timely manner. Because of that I really easily solved many of my problems before arriving in Japan. Additionally, thank you for organising the events and language exchanges for us in Japan. It really helps with making new friends, which can be difficult as a foreigner in Japan. It was a really interesting experience for me.
Awesome program
September 09, 2022by: Kayleigh Rose - New ZealandGreat program. As a foreigner trying to get to Japan alone, it was extremely tough. I was almost out of ideas on how I could take the leap into Japan without any existing network or knowhow. Luckily after doing some research I came across Meiji Internships. I had reached out and told them about my plans to come to Japan. All throughout they were very supportive and helpful while I was trying to coordinate myself and put together a solid plan. Long story short they helped me find an internship suited to my business skill and the company turned out to be the perfect fit! I owe Meiji so much because I would never have made a connection like that without them. I am now living and working in Japan and my plan is to do this for a long time.
Japan internship 2022
August 29, 2022by: Julius Meyer - GermanyI spent my summer in Osaka for my internship, and got to travel around Kyoto, Nara, and Hiroshima. My time was spent traveling throughout kansai on my days off, and I was mostly working during my weekdays. I’ve met so many humble and amazing people who have been so kind to teach me many new things that have helped me improved my skills. Japan is one of my favourite places to visit now and my goal is to fully learn the language and maybe one day to move there for work in the long term if i get lucky.
Japan has my heart
August 23, 2022by: Jessica Black - AustraliaEverybody knows the classic go to Japan and fall in love with the culture, food, people story so I’ll spare you all the details, but my time in Osaka was honestly the greatest time of my life. My time was divided up by working and enjoying the chill vibes of Osaka, and I had plenty of time to do both! From start to finish I had not one issue, and this is thanks to the competence of Meiji and all of my colleagues. I’d highly recommend this program, and a word of advice - being Japan’s kitchen, you definitely won’t go hungry here so bring an appetite.
Osaka
August 16, 2022by: Stephanie Brown - United KingdomI completed my internship in Osaka last week, and am now reflecting on one of the best times of my life. The city is amazing, it has everything you need (good food and good people). The host company treated me like part of the family, and I got on really well with everyone there. For a couple of them I was the first British person they had ever met, so it was quite amusing to answer all their strange questions about British culture. Meiji Internships were a pleasure to deal with, they made everything simple and everything was done with no funny business. With this in mind, it’s a really cost-effective solution and you get great value for money.
Internship in Hokkaido
August 15, 2022by: Matt Fieldhouse - AustraliaHokkaido is a place best experienced slowly, it’s so wide and vast that you really have to take your time. With that in mind, I used my internship here as a chance to slowly but surely travel throughout the island over the span of 3 months. I will say that Hokkaido isn’t for everyone, it is slightly difficult to travel around (especially if you don’t drive) and the winters are unforgiving. However if you’re a nature-buff like myself you’re in for a real treat. My work schedule wasn’t nearly as intense as I had anticipated, so I had plenty of time to enjoy Japan whilst also gaining valuable work experience. Altogether I’m very happy with my experience. If I could go back and do one thing differently, it would definitely be to pack more winter clothes!
Slice of like in Osaka
August 09, 2022by: Kathy Swan - CanadaMy primary reason for doing an internship in Japan was to experience the real working life there. As a westerner we hear a lot about how strenuous and difficult life can be for everyday working adults in Japan, but my experience was far from that! I was working Mon-Fri 9-5 and the work itself was very interesting to me, so I felt absolutely no stress during my entire internship. Osaka was a great city to get to know too, with so many interesting characters and some really unique food. Thank you so much Meiji, it was really a life-changing experience and I’m so relived it was hassle-free.
3 months in Kyoto
August 01, 2022by: Kiera Rivers - United StatesMy 3 months in Kyoto were the perfect balance of travelling and work. I had always wanted to travel to Kyoto, but I didn’t want to leave such a big gap on my CV whilst travelling. The internship was the perfect solution for me, as I could do both at the same time. Meiji arranged for my internship with a local ryokan, which was honestly one of the most amazing places I have worked in my life. Kyoto is just as magical as it seems to be, it feels so authentically Japanese and I’ve really never been to a place like it.
Sapporo... good times
July 25, 2022by: Mark Wood - United KingdomI finished up my internship in Sapporo recently, and I can definitely look back and say that I had the best 3 months of my life. The work, the people, the food, the (extreme) weather. Everything was perfect if I’m honest! If you want solid work experience, do an internship. If you want even better work experience, do an internship abroad in a place you’d never picture yourself in!
Osaka internship
July 19, 2022by: Cath Barnes - New ZealandThis was not my first time in Osaka but I fell in love with it again as if it was my first time. The city is so vibrant and the people are enviously happy, the food is out of this world, and wandering the streets is like wandering a movie set. I left here feeling a deep sense of jealousy to be real. My internship was with a small design company, and I was tasked with taking charge of some important projects. I had no problems throughout the application process, and my transition into Japan was seamless - safe to say I have no complaints!
Saw a side of Japan they don’t show in the guidebooks
June 21, 2022by: Luke Grayson - CanadaIf you’re thinking of going to Japan, I highly advise you do something different! Tokyo and Osaka are great, but you can’t beat the rolling snowy hills of Hokkaido. I did my internship here after a recommendation from a friend, and I worked with a small firm operating in Sapporo. The work I did was definitely work haha, so I was surprisingly busy. As an intern this is a good thing though - I racked up plenty of experience. When I wasn’t working I was exploring the beautiful Hokkaido. As a Canadian the tonnes and tonnes of snow was no problem at all, but for those who aren't so familiar with these conditions I’d advise you come prepared. I would also advise you at least bring an international drivers license as a lot of the best places here are buried deep in the countryside, so in most cases you will need to drive. I really hope I can return to Sapporo soon, and meet all those amazingly kind people again! Much love, Luke
Osaka: work hard play hard
June 13, 2022by: Joey Dunn - AustraliaFor me interning in Osaka was not easy (for all the right reasons). The city is just TOO fun, balancing a working life with the nightlife really caught up to me xD Meiji helped me find an internship working with an international consulting firm based in the heart of Osaka, which worked out perfectly for me. My Japanese ability is non-existent but given the fact the business was international, I was surrounded by plenty of English speakers who often helped me out. Meiji also provided the private apartment I stayed in, luckily it was literally a stones-throw from the office (very handy for those slightly hungover mornings). If you’re considering an internship in Japan all I can say is enjoy it to the fullest, you never know if you’ll be able to experience a life like this again! 100% would recommend Meiji
Cyberpunk central
June 10, 2022by: Ben Ward - United KingdomInitially I was in the bunch of people that focus solely on Tokyo, but in the end choosing Osaka was game-changing for me. I quickly fell in love with the neon-lit streets, the affable residents, and the wild nightlife. Osaka is genuinely the perfect city in my eyes. Not to mention its considerably cheaper than Tokyo. Meiji found me an internship in graphic design, and I worked with a relatively small advertising company. The work was really engaging, as every day was pretty much a different task - plus the work they assigned to me was actual work they sent out to clients, so I felt like a valued member of the team. Living in cyberpunk Osaka gave me so much inspiration too, I felt like I was at my creative peak. Osaka is also incredibly well connected to other parts of Japan, so I was taking every opportunity I could to make short day trips and such to other cities. I’ve got a feeling this’ll be one of those trips I tell my kids about, cheers Meiji!
Thank you for the dream
June 06, 2022by: Isabel Caba - SpainEver since I was little I want to go to Japan. Finally I got the chance and it is probably better than the dream! The internship was 1 month in Kyoto which is a beautiful and very magic city. I speak to Meiji and ask if I can do the internship here and they helped me to find the company with the accomodations. Every day was really fun even working days, and I every day did something new. The food was really delicious I cannot believe! I took many pictures and made many memories that I will take forever, it really was the best days of my life. I recommend Meiji to everyone and I also recommend Kyoto Japan to everyone :D
Hokkaido internship
June 03, 2022by: Élise Allemand - FranceThis was my first ever internship and I think it is the best I will ever do. Going to Hokkaido was a big change for me, you might expect that the weather is completely different. In fact, I have never seen so much snow in my life, it was so much! I did my 2 month internship at an amazing guesthouse and cafe in Sapporo. I already speak conversational Japanese so this was a good opportunity for me to use it every day, and I made so many friends in the process. First I was not so sure that Sapporo was the right place for me but after speaking with Meiji they assured me it would be great. Thank you very much for your help Meiji. You gave me one of the best experience in my life, my accommodation was so good, and I got to see a new city that is so different from my home.
Reviews speak for themselves
May 13, 2022by: Amelia Roberts - AustraliaIf you're anything like me you’re looking for an internship in Japan and you're tirelessly looking through all the reviews of each and every internship provider trying to find the best one. If you’re reading this I’d advise you to stop now because you’ve found it!! This was my first, and already probably the best internship of my life. It has been a lifelong dream to live in Japan and I fiiiiiinally made it happen. Seriously, no regrets. The people in Japan are just as nice as they’re said to be, and I felt welcomed everywhere I went even as the classic loud obnoxious Aussie I am. I only wish I knew more of the language, so I could really interact with them! Meiji were superb from start to finish. The application was quick, they showed genuine care for my interests, and they found me the best possible company to work with. Nothing but happy!
Kyoto internship: an amazing experience!
April 03, 2020by: Christian Patterson - United StatesJapan is an amazing place to go abroad and to do an internship! I have learned so much from my time there. I came back as a different, more open-minded and mature person. I wish the experience lasted longer but one month in Kyoto was already awesome. Japan is a safe country and I had a really great time sightseeing in Kyoto with everyone. I have met some amazing people and I wonder if we will be able to meet each other again. I would love to, because going through an adventure like this together creates strong bonds and those people are quite important to me. And the food guys... Japanese food is so yummy!! I miss it so much, I tried to cook a katsu kare, but it was nothing like the original one haha.
My internship in Sapporo
March 21, 2020by: Mélissa Boucher - CanadaI had a fun and impactful work experience in Sapporo thanks to Meiji Internships. I could feel that they were doing their best to match the right intern with the right internship. I was a bit scared to feel homesick, but everything went well and I was always busy working, learning and having fun. Moreover, I wasn't alone there, as there was a Meiji community including the staff, the other interns, and some Japanese volunteers. We were going out often on weekends and listening to everyone's experience. My best memory is when we went on a weekend trip to a ski resort. We went there by bus (approximately 40 minutes from Sapporo) and I could find all the necessary equipment for rental at a reasonable price. We had so much fun and we created unforgettable memories!
Osaka
March 18, 2020by: Charlene Powell - United KingdomI went to Japan for two months to learn about business development and improve my Japanese skills. First of all, I improved a lot in Japanese. I chose the business package and I had online classes that helped me a lot. Plus, my working environment was half English, half Japanese. I made progress beyond expectations! I don't even have to think about the language when I have a daily conversation. The sentences come to me naturally and without hesitation! I also learnt a lot about business and management. I think I made a good choice by staying for two months because the serious business didn't start before the second month. The first month was interesting, but I lacked abilities and I always needed to ask questions and make sure I was doing the right thing. Then I started to understand everything and I was able to manage projects on my own without having someone to check on my decisions. Osaka is an impressive and awesome city with so many things to do. It is also very well located and I took the opportunity to visit Kyoto, Nara, and Himeji. Himeji castle was so beautiful, if you go there you should definitely go inside and visit the entire castle.
Excellent work experience
March 11, 2020by: Billy Marshall - United KingdomI was in Osaka for 8 weeks. The best 8 weeks of my life! Here is one piece of advice if you are going to do an internship: Don't be afraid to talk to new people, don't be shy and take advantage of every situation. You will have many opportunities to travel, do some activities with other interns, go out with your colleagues... those opportunities will let you create the best memories bonding with people who might become your closest friends. We were two interns at my company. Jenna was working on the website design while I was doing research about tourism in Osaka and establishing contact with new potential partners. They allowed me to take part in important meetings with big hotels, restaurants and other tourism companies which were the most instructive experiences. Sometimes it was hard to accept that some partnerships that you invested time and energy in wouldn't succeed in the end, but I learnt a great deal through those experiences!
Great!! A really interesting adventure!!
March 06, 2020by: Patrizia Haas - GermanyTrusting Meiji Internships was the best choice! My host company was great and in particular my tutor was one of kind which made my stay really fun and conducive to making progress. Having the opportunity to do an internship in Japan is absolutely amazing, and working alongside professionals was very meaningful to me. I learnt a great deal from them and I appreciate everything they did for me. My company was a big trading corporation in Osaka. As Japan is making a lot of import from overseas, this kind of experience is a good way to find a job in Japan later on, after my graduation. Finding an internship in Japan was not the easy way. Most of my friends interned in Europe, but I needed something more challenging. What a great undertaking!
Wonderful time in Tokyo!
February 26, 2020by: Zhiwei Cheng - ChinaThis is a great program as it supports to redeem university credits. They provide a business workshop to tell something about Japanese business culture. The placement is based on best matches. They provide a 2000 Japanese Yen transportation card and certain amount of data. There were activities arranged during the placement. The response of the email is quick. The CEO himself is a nice person.
So many benefits from this internship in Nagoya
February 21, 2020by: Kristian Freeh - GermanyI said to Meiji Internships that I wanted to intern in another city than Tokyo because I have been there three times already and I wanted to discover a new location. When they wrote me an email saying that a company in Nagoya wanted to have an interview with me, I already knew that it would be the right place to be. I have never been to Nagoya before, but it was on my list of cities to visit. This city is truly awesome! I was so happy to see the Nagoya castle which was one of the most powerful castles in Japan, where Oda Nobunaga was born! I went to the Railway Park which was very interesting, and I even went on a weekend trip to Ise. There are so many beautiful things to see on this island. I would advise you to make a quick research on google to have an idea of what you can find there because I can't tell you everything here, it would be way too long! Doing this internship was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I gained precious skills in business development, in Japanese, and I had the opportunity to travel and discover two beautiful prefectures: Aichi prefecture and Mie prefecture. I can't wait for the next adventure!
Traditional hostel in Kyoto, a wonderful adventure!
January 10, 2020by: Laurine Delmotte - FranceThe hostel where I was interning had a lot of foreign customers so I could help with communication and also correcting their emails. They could speak English quite good, but it wasn't perfect so I was more than happy to be able to help them. The staff was very open-minded and already knew a lot about European culture. They always made efforts to speak English with me when I couldn't understand what they said in Japanese. I still asked them to speak Japanese to me when possible, because I wanted to improve my Japanese at the same time. It was not my first time in Kyoto but I could see the city in a new light. I had more time to explore the hidden places in the city! I like the Kansai area, Osaka and Nara are close to Kyoto so I could go there a few times as well.
Thank you so much!!
December 13, 2019by: Jonathan Allen - United StatesIt wasn't my first time in Osaka, but the experience was drastically different from my first stay. It allowed me to discover the city in a brand new way. For me, it was very interesting to see what's hidden behind the walls of those big buildings and understand how everything works. I applied for a marketing internship, and Meiji responded very well to my requests. From the first emails and the interview, I felt that the work was done seriously and with professionalism. In my company, I had to do some basic things as well as more challenging tasks, so I never got bored and I could learn lots of different things. I could also take part in some meetings and get a real company experience. I was really happy that Meiji Internships found me a company in Osaka because the city is very well located. Not too far from Kyoto and Nara, near the sea, and you can access the countryside very easily... perfect location!
Beautiful nature and wildlife in Hokkaido
December 06, 2019by: James Tyler - United StatesPlease let me go back in time and do this program again! I have made so many friends in the two months I've been in Sapporo. Hokkaido is such a great place to explore all the natural spots during the weekends and also learn about the mystical culture of the Nordic native people called "Ainu". I met so many super awesome people on my journey and went with them also to the cozy city port of Hakodate on the Southern tip. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I already miss all the people and my fellow colleagues from my company I was working at. Advise: Make sure to check out the sea food market in Sapporo. Mouth watering and fresh sea food wherever you look.
Travel + work experience
November 21, 2019by: Wie Bke - GermanyI had an amazing time in Sapporo! I worked and enhanced my resume while fully immersing myself in the Japanese culture and joining all sorts of activities. Most people might go “Hokkaido?? Why go there??“ but it is sooo worth it! I love nature, so I was happy to see that Meiji Internships offers the “Explore“ option. I loved my internship and also had plenty of time to travel and relax and unwind. It was truly an amazing experience and I would definitely go again!
Unique chance
October 27, 2019by: Millie O'Sullivan - United KingdomWhen I looked into different internship providers and websites, I was overwhelmed, to say the least. However, I soon came to notice that Meiji Internships seems to be the only operator out there, who offers internships in Japan which are not only in Tokyo, but anywhere. That was a decisive factor in choosing Meiji over other third-party internship providers. Another big factor was the fact that the service Meiji offers is simply a lot cheaper. Based on my experience with them, I can now officially assure you that while they are cheaper, they hold very high standards of service. They genuinely care about you, your goals and your dream internship. I talked to my boss and he explained that Meiji had asked him a multitude of questions before considering his company as a host company. With Meiji, you are in good hands. Advice? My advice is to always check back with the team about the things that will be provided. My kitchen, for instance, came with a microwave, a stove, a kettle, a fridge, storage and basic cutlery and utensils. I wish I had received a list of items that will be provided before coming to Nara. That way, I could have brought my french press and mixer from home.
A photographer in the marketing world!
September 23, 2019by: Lola González - MexicoI recently finished a 2-month internship program in Osaka with Meiji Internships. If you are a student looking for international work experience and opportunities to explore Japan's business and touristic world, this program is for you! The point that probably interests you most: I have been more than happy to work at the company that Meiji found for me. I had to rush the selection process a little due to uni requirements, but Meiji managed to arrange a Skype interview with a prospective host company in just 10 days! The description of that company did not meet my expectations. I wanted to intern in Design & Photography, but that company offered me a Marketing Internship. However, during the Skype call it became clear to me that Design & Photography would play a vital role in my Marketing internship. During my internship, I was entrusted to work on one of the biggest Marketing campaigns my company had going on! That allowed me to put my skills into practice while learning a lot about Marketing. Never would I have thought how important it is to know basic market research and marketing tools - even as a designer/photographer! Honestly, I do not think it would have been possible for me to land such a great position in this amazing company as quickly as I did without Meiji. I am incredibly happy I opened up to doing an internship outside of my industry because ironically, that way I learned a lot more about the value of my skills, my creativity and myself! Now I cover both spheres: I am a great photographer, but also know how to market my work professionally! That is definitely something that distinguishes me from other artists!
Event management internship
June 16, 2019by: Theodor F - United StatesMy event management internship in Nagoya was a transformative experience. During my placement I developed so many new skills from time management to meet deadlines of setting up new events, scheduling and preparing meetings with catering companies and overviewing all the logistics for food delivery, photographers, Djs and Vjs involved. All these tasks really enabled me to shape and advance professionally and set up a solid foundation for my international career. Meiji really did a great job in organizing my work placement and also helped to me sort out all other administrational hurdles, such as visa extension, insurance, accommodation and the whole communication during my internship. To be honest I had some concerns before applying through an agency as I have heard about other internship agencies from fellow students that they had bad experiences. Meiji on the other side did a really great job and I can only recommend them to anybody who wants to do an internship, especially in Japan! P.S.: Try to look for placements beyond Tokyo. There are so many opportunities hidden off the beaten track!

Kyoto internship
October 14, 2018by: Stephen Smith - United StatesI has a primary goal in Japan that Meiji was quite helpful to me in that regard. They got me into a program that hosted quite the friendly staff that also gave me advice about how to make it in Japan, and the environment also suited my level of my Japanese quite nicely. I did however, run into a little trouble when the picky up day was pushed back a day after my arrival time. I failed to notice that update mishap before i left so the first hour or two was a rough start. Other than that, the situation all in all is better than I had expected. This was a good program in the end, just a little bit of vigilance will go a long way.
Rewarding experience in Japan's largest green eco port city
August 12, 2018by: Lena Rosenberg - GermanyI absolutely recommend going through Meiji Internships’ programme. Using an internship agency instead of doing it by yourself, may seem pricey, but it’s worth every cent. My accommodation was a bit small compared to Western standards, but I have seen from other students and interns that this is normal in Japan. All important appliances were provided and it was clean & tidy. The complimentary programs included were networking events, dinners with my co-workers and also the great support throughout the time. My internship placement was well thought out as well. Meiji arranged with me a Google Hangouts interview and talked me throughout the process. Step by step everything was organized into the details, so I was placed in one of my industries of choice. Before I went to my internship in Kitakyushu, I did two weeks of the business course, which turned out to be really useful. The staff provided me with advice on how to sort out all challenging day-to-day tasks, where to get cheap lunch, buy souvenirs, get toiletries and all other things I was struggling to find. When I did my internship in an office and business facilities company it Kentaro, who showed me and the other interns around. He was a sweetheart, more of a friend than a company tour guide. I also specifically recommend going to Yamaguchi and exploring other areas in Kyushu. Japan’s south scenery is beautiful, where you can find greenery, white beaches, sky scrapers and a lot of hiking spots for the weekend. Also you can find cheap local pubs, meetups in international bars and hostels and street food in Kokura.
Incredible internship placements and outstanding support
August 09, 2018by: Megan Jones - AustraliaMy internship was a really good experience. Actually I was really lucky that I could do in two months I’ve been in Kyoto two internship placements. The staff at Meiji is very flexible and easy to talk to. Especially the internship advisers went out of their way to help and assist me all the time. The first one was in a Kimono Rental and Tourist center in the traditional quarter of Kyoto called Gion. My second one was in an art studio. I had to say that it really helps to first get do an intership that is somehow related to foreign customers or using English. Me as a total beginner was definitely struggling with the language at first. I am really glad that the staff at Meiji persuaded me to do a few weeks Japanese studies at their school in Fukuoka first. All in all it was an incredible experience, but I do think that people in Fukuoka seemed a bit more open and less reserved than in Kyoto. A few things about me: It was my first time to Japan and my first time to Kyoto. I chose this ancient city because many people told me: “If you haven’t been to Kyoto, you haven’t seen the real Japan!” I am not sure if that is exactly true, but it is true that there are so many things to explore. From old temples, mysterious Shinto Shrines to beautiful cherry blossoms and bamboo forests. For all gamers out there, make sure to visit Nintendo’s headquarters. Yes, you guessed it right. It is in Kyoto!
Well organized program and extraordinary experience!!
July 28, 2018by: Patricia Gonzalez - SpainKyoto was such a fascinating experience. It was my first time in Japan and I wanted to choose a place to experience the “real Japan”! Before departing to Kyoto for my internship i decided to do the recommended business course for two weeks and also two extra weeks traditional culture at Meiji Academy’s school in Fukuoka. My internship in an art gallery gave me the opportunity to meet and greet a lot of local artists. After a few weeks I made some valuable contacts and I was even invited for some business dinner events at a local restaurant near Gion. Japan really taught me how important it is to get out of your comfort zone and try making new friends. This city is so mystical and traditional with all these small sidewalks to explore. Apparently I came for the worst season ever: Summer. Summer in Asia is not just sunny season but rainy season as well (that’s what the locals told me). Make sure not to forget your umbrella!
Absolutely mind-blowing!
July 16, 2018by: Hans - GermanyI did my internship in a water sports company that organizes tours and water sports activities. As I am coming from a called but beautiful city in Northern Germany, I am naturally attracted to the sea. I wanted a fun and outdoor internship, where I can also develop my communication skills. Meiji listened to my wishes and just found exactly what I was looking for! Internship in the sun and fun down in South Japan!!! Great experience and especially the crazy "Ocean Walking" with the astronaut helmets! lol I definitely come back to Japan again for sure! Peace up!

Most fruitful work experience ever!
February 22, 2018by: Thomas - United StatesMy name is Thomas and I am a last year IT/Business student. Even though I did a short internship in Osaka at a design startup studio, I have to say that it was one of the best experiences I had so far. Before my internship started I spent two weeks studying at Meiji's Academy in Fukuoka before I started my journey in Kansai Region. I have been to Japan a couple of times, but felt in love with the open and straight mentality of people in Osaka. So for me it was just the right decision to backup my Japan travels with some valuable skills for my upcoming job hunting. I have to say that working for a startup was a little bit of a challenge at the beginning, because of the many tasks you were involved. However I have learnt so much in the short time. From Power Point, Photoshop, Illustrator to Adobe Premier and After Effect simple editing, my company was definitely giving me many opportunities during my placement. Definitely recommend smaller companies where you will be exposed to more tasks than larger corporations!
Awesome adventure in Japan's (unofficial) capital
February 21, 2018by: David Schmidt - AustriaMy two months in Osaka were just amazing from start to finish! As it was my first time in Japan and I felt like Tokyo would be too much of a rush, I decided to choose Osaka as a more relaxed city for my internship experience. Before starting my internship I spent three weeks in Fukuoka and did the business course at Meiji's Internships. I found the classes very useful, especially the business attire role-playing games they set up. So I thought I'm ready for Osaka and soon I found out that this city isn't as idyllic as I thought...bustling neon lights at nights, very talkative but warmhearted people and yummy food everywhere. It was a bit of a culture shock. I thought Japanese people are shy and quiet, but Osaka-jins seem to be the exception. lol I did an internship in a guest house/cultural center with different tasks the management staff appointed me. Luckily they let me try many different tasks and I became good friends with the staff and went also out some nights with my colleagues. Good Karaoke fun!! haha I have to admit that the language barrier felt a little bit of a burden at the beginning. However the staff were really patient and Meiji Internships staff responded to my requests in less than a day what wa quiet helpful. Actually Meiji staff has visited me more than two times while I was in Osaka and they appointed also a contact person at the location for me which was very helpful at the beginning. One thing I want to say to any future intern: Japan is more than just Tokyo. Explore the Kansai Region and its ancient cities!! Was a bit short on my budget so missed out on the Kobe beef :(
