Childcare and Development in Rwanda
by: Love Volunteers
This Childcare and Development program aims to support children from families affected by genocide and from some of Rwanda's poorest families. Many kids in Rwamagana lack necessities, which hampers their educational prospects. The program provides a nurturing educational foundation that enables children to learn and thrive. Volunteers are desperately needed to help educate these wonderful children. Early childhood education levels in Rwamagana are very low due to a critical shortage of teachers. A local early education facility was established to meet a significant need identified through work with local families and discussions with community leaders. This facility aims to help young children reach their full potential. Early childhood education is crucial for establishing a strong learning foundation. Many local children lack access to nursery education, resulting in mixed-age classes from 3 to 6 years old. The primary school has recently expanded to include children up to age 11. However, volunteers in this program will primarily work in the school’s nursery.
