Program Overview
Nǐ hǎo from Hangzhou, China! Step into the heart of China with this scholarship like program, a journey designed to bring Chinese culture, language and daily life vividly to life.
We'll provide you with a 3-12 month placement in a major Chinese city living in a homestay with a lovely Chinese family. Your adventure starts with arriving in Beijing, Shanghai, or Hangzhou! You'll get Mandarin classes on a local university campus per week during the semester, fascinating cultural event and hang-outs etc. You will assist host family with live-in educational childcare and some light household chores up to 30 hours a week. This program may be extended upon successful completion of the first semester at no cost.

1. What is the Live-Learn China program?
The Live-Learn China program is a cultural exchange and educational program. Participants join a Chinese host family as a family member ("big brother" or "big sister") while enrolled as international students at a partner university in China, studying Mandarin during the academic semester.
Do I need to speak Chinese before joining?
No. Mandarin classes are provided as part of the program. English proficiency is required for communication with the host family.
How many hours of classes will I have?
You will be enrolled as an international student at a partner university in China and receive Mandarin language classes during the academic semester.Weekly Mandarin classes typically range from 15 to 20 class hours during the university semester.
