The Makimbilio program places you in a community-based orphanage on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, where you'll care for and support children and teens who have lost parents to accidents and disease, including HIV/AIDS.

But the work goes beyond the orphanage walls. You'll also visit homes, support widows, and educate families and youth on health and self-care — building health awareness in a community that needs consistent, caring support. KVT is locally led, and the orphanage is genuinely embedded in its community, which means your relationships here are real and the impact is sustained.

This is challenging, meaningful work. Volunteers in this program frequently describe it as the most significant experience of their lives. Ideal for those with childcare, social work, nursing, or education backgrounds — but open to all motivated, open-minded volunteers. Minimum 4 weeks strongly recommended.
