Program Overview

Morocco is still struggling with a lot of economic, social and political disparities between the two genders. This is a great project for anyone interested in women’s issues and women’s rights in the MENA region. Women are often victims of some forms of abuse and violence or have been deprived of education. The root of Moroccan women’s challenges is the result of years of culture where women were seen as having “limited power”. Morocco being a traditionally a male-dominated society has a high illiteracy rate amongst women. The project aims to educate the women and girls who are otherwise deprived of education and training. Ultimately the project helps improve women’s standard of living, self-confidence and it encourages them to be independent and generate income for on their own.

Interns will teach women and girls English and assist in a variety of workshop to help the women increase their skills. The interns’ essential role is to help the women feel empowered and help them achieve a better life for themselves and their families. Interns will be able to teach women income generating skills, support them in their life journey and help increase their confidence level.
