I really loved the school that my project was at

I really loved the school that my project was at. The kids were so sweet and welcoming. The meals were good and the local team kept the accommodation clean. When I would walk into the classroom each day the children would rush to give me a big group hug. For me, the biggest impact the program had was feeling the love of the children and teachers and improving my Spanish. If you are considering volunteering, you should definitely do it! It's incredible to experience another culture and way of life.

Teaching kindergarten in Ecuador

Volunteering in Ecuador was a great experience. I got to teach art classes and I really felt like I connected with the children. The VCE team in Ecuador was a little unorganized, but they were always willing to help everyone with a smile. This program would be very challenging if you knew no Spanish, so try and get some basic phrases down before you go (the Spanish lessons are awesome if you want to get more advanced). I got to do things I never imagined I would, like climb an active volcano and go kayaking in a Lagoon. I also had the pleasure of staying with a host family which gave me a much deeper understanding of Ecuadorean culture. Make sure to come with an open mind and a helping hand, and you'll be sure to leave with a full heart

It sounds like you had an action-packed time exploring Ecuador and it is awesome to hear that enjoyed the time spent with your host family and children at your placement! ^Charlotte - IVHQ Ecuador Program Manager
