Volunteers in Sigatoka help repair and improve community-run buildings such as schools, childcare centres, clinics and local homes in the region. You will assist with tasks like painting walls, repairing roofs or floors, fixing damaged structures, renovating classrooms or living spaces, upgrading sanitation facilities and helping maintain gardens or outdoor areas. Many communities lack adequate resources for repairs or upgrades so the work you do will help make buildings safer, more functional and more welcoming for residents and children who use them daily. Tasks vary depending on local needs at the time of your placement and may involve simple carpentry, basic repairs, and maintenance. No previous construction experience is required since local staff will guide you through each task. What matters most is willingness to work hard, respect for community needs, physical fitness and a cooperative attitude. In your free time you can explore Fiji’s Coral Coast, enjoy beautiful beaches, rivers, and local culture, and meet friendly people. You will leave knowing you helped improve essential community facilities and gained practical experience while contributing to meaningful change.
