The adventure of a lifetime
August 09, 2018by: Lindsay Hudnall - United StatesProgram: Childcare Support Volunteering in Cordoba, ArgentinaIVHQ showed me amazing support and safety for the complete duration of my trip, and they also introduced me to the lives of local people in Cordoba, Argentina. This experience was absolutely incredible, it opened my eyes up to a culture very different from my own and taught me about the importance of compassion, awareness, and independence. The volunteer placement I was at was a local daycare for children 2-4 years old. I helped the teacher make sure the kids weren't causing trouble and I helped clean up and classroom and serve lunch everyday. Although the language barrier was difficult (I hardly speak any Spanish and the kids/teachers don't speak any English), I caught on pretty quick and found ways to communicate nonverbally. This was the adventure of a lifetime and it felt so good to help those in need. I highly recommend traveling with IVHQ - they have a great staff, great accommodations, great food, and great prices. I will definitely be traveling with them again soon.
Three amazing weeks
June 23, 2017by: Sia A - CanadaProgram: Childcare Support Volunteering in Cordoba, ArgentinaI spent three weeks volunteering in the childcare program in Villa Allende and what an amazing experience. I was in a classroom with two year olds and I spent my mornings playing with them and running around outside on the playground. I also helped the teacher clean up or wash the kids hands etc. This was 3 hours in the morning so I also joined the sports program in the evenings. Monday, wednesday, friday we played basketball and tuesday and thursday was soccer. This was an incredible experience being able to lead some drills and coach the kids and then actually being able to play alongside the older kids. I´ll never forget my time here. Definitely an experience I´ll never forget.
Hi Sia, We are so happy to hear that you had an amazing volunteering experience with us in Argentina. Thanks so much for getting involved in both the Childcare and Sports placements - it sounds like you really made the most of your time on the program. We hope you will join us again!
Clover - IVHQ Argentina Program Manager
Childcare experience
June 02, 2017by: Whitney - United StatesProgram: Childcare Support Volunteering in Cordoba, ArgentinaThis was a lot of fun! Working with the kids in the schools kept me busy and they were so cute. This was a good opportunity to work with teachers and help them with what they needed. Definitely go for longer than one week. I was here for two and probably could have done one more.
Hi Whitney, We are so happy to hear that you had a whole lot of fun while on the program in Argentina. Thanks for your recommendation and for being a great volunteer!
Clover - IVHQ Argentina Program Manager
