English teaching Kindy kids in Vietnam with my 13 year old son
February 09, 2026by: VANESSA MEKISIC - AustraliaIVHQ provided in-depth information prior to our volunteer posting. This allowed us to fully prepare and take into consideration small elements that we may have overlooked, like cultue shock. Being aware allowed us to normalise the experience and feel supported. They also provided guidance and support with regards to volunteering with our 13 year old child. They ensured that he to was in an appropriate program with myself that would support his learning and well-being. Our placement was safe supported, but also allowed us to be independent. I would not hesitate to do this again with my child and adult children, its life changing

First time international volunteer (AND LOVED IT)
June 24, 2025by: Jessica Qi - United StatesThis was my first time traveling and volunteering internationally. I had a lovely experience with IVHQ. Before my trip, they did an excellent job helping me with whatever I needed to feel prepared for my trip. Honestly, when I got to my travel destination, I didn't know what to expect because I've never been to the country before, and I had no family there at all. It was quite nerve-wracking, but as soon as I met up with the local team, I immediately felt welcomed. It was like a big community and family. On this trip, I had an amazing time volunteering, helping a community, immersing myself into a new culture, and making new friends. Meeting the people in this program was probably the most memorable part. It's like coming together with people who are kind and compassionate, and want to help the world as much as you do. It's really refreshing to be with such amazing and intelligent human beings. The local team was impeccable, as well as the food. I loved everything about it (maybe it was a little too hot than what I am used to, but it was worth it). Do not hesitate and do this, it will be a transformative experience.
Connect to my roots
August 30, 2024by: Ramaud Chiaokhiao-BowmanAs a Lao American, I knew I wanted to not only serve but connect to my roots. This trip did that and so much more for me. The service opportunities enabled me to make an immediate impact on students, teachers, locals and new found friends. While them also having a profound impact on myself. My perspective on gratitude, resources, education and my own culture has expanded. I know and believe that this opportunity will be the catalyst to my next servant leadership venture! Only thing I regret is not taking this volunteer trip sooner!!!
Volunteering abroad changed me forever
February 21, 2023by: Georgina CameronMy cherished moment was the kids in the kindergarten being excited to see us everyday and remembering us! They would come up to us and say hello teacher. The biggest impact my volunteering trip had on me was it put me out of my comfort zone as I have never travelled alone. You will never feel alone and you will have so much fun. Everyone is so like minded and so lovely to work with.
Just do it and go outside your comfort zone
December 09, 2022by: Karim CharaniaA treasured moment is meeting lots of new people from around the world and living together for a week and also at the end getting a certificate and being thanked by the whole class. The biggest impression the program had on me was being able to grow as a person by becoming more confident and going out of my comfort zone. Just do it and go outside your comfort zone, you’ll be surprised what you can do when put in the situation and the feeling at the end when you know you’ve helped others is amazing.
