The aim of the Kindergarten project in Kerala is to give young students a good start to learning the English language. Kindergartens are typically associated and housed within primary schools and you will be working in the junior classrooms of schools throughout Kochi. As a volunteer on this project, you can expect to assist local Keralan teachers with basic teaching and caring for children aged from 3 to 6 years-old. Classroom activities include; familiarizing children with the English alphabet, playing word and picture association games, art-based learning, leading exercises based on songs and rhymes, supporting teachers with sports and physical games, and helping at meal times.

Programs are available year round in India - Kerala at an affordable price of US$360
The IVHQ India - Kerala program begins every Monday. You can choose to volunteer for durations ranging from 1 week to 8 weeks.
The India - Kerala volunteer program is located in the city of Kochi (or Cochin) on the south-west coast of India in the state of Kerala.
India - Kerala program fees include 24/7 in-country support, airport pick-up, program orientation, volunteer placement, accommodation, meals.

It was the best thing I have ever done
June 25, 2024by: Laura BuffreyProgram: Kindergarten Volunteering in India - Kerala with IVHQIt was the best thing I have ever done, apart from being a mum, the whole experience will stay with me forever. Do it - you will love the culture, people and mainly the beautiful children. I feel I got a lot out of this experience. I planned the lesson for the next day and I feel I have done some really good stuff - the children seemed to enjoy the lessons. I tried to make them fun by making play doh and doing a lot of prep and bringing a lot of equipment to help explain the topic. I did fund raising and I was so happy to receive over £1000 from donations from people back home to buy two water filters, plants for a garden project, lots of food, clothes and a study table.

I was on the kindergarten project and I loved every minute of it!! The staff in the house were incredible and thought us so much about the culture! The only thing I would change if I went back is I would stay for longer!!
