Program Overview
Join the Women’s Empowerment program in San José, Costa Rica with International Volunteer HQ and support local communities by contributing to projects focused on empowering women and promoting gender equity. Volunteers may work with community centres, outreach initiatives, and support groups providing education, life skills workshops, mentorship programs, or social support services aimed at helping women from under-resourced backgrounds.
This placement is ideal for gap-year travellers, students, or anyone passionate about social justice, gender equality, and community development. Your hosted volunteer experience includes airport pick-up, a full orientation, accommodation in a volunteer house or homestay depending on placement, two meals daily, and 24/7 support from the local team. You also receive pre-departure guidance from your IVHQ Program Manager along with training tools to help you feel prepared for your role.
Programs begin every Monday. Volunteers become part of an international community and have opportunities to explore Costa Rica’s rich culture, urban life, and surrounding natural landscapes while making a meaningful impact on women’s lives and community wellbeing.
