Confidence booster
March 08, 2023by: Marlenny Gonzalez - United StatesProgram: IES Abroad Rome – International RelationsStudying abroad in Rome was my first experience traveling abroad. When I arrived, I was nervous about everything. I was scared I would not be able to adapt to my new home for the next 4 months. But luckily the staff at IES Rome were always understanding and helpful about our transition. I felt comfortable asking for help. In addition, my cohort consisted of kind-hearted individuals who were willing to laugh, cry, and feel embarrassed alongside me. Once I got the hang of things, it was over. I started visiting all the touristy spots like the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain but I also would spend my days at more local underrated spots. I improved my Italian vocabulary and pronunciation. I stepped out of my comfort zone and traveled all around Europe. At the end, I felt 100% more confident in myself then I had before.
