Volunteering to work with local children in one of the country's more historic regions is an incredibly rewarding opportunity. The volunteer project is based in Luang Prabang, a Unesco Heritage Site, which is known for its beauty, architecture, and colour. Volunteers will assist Lao English teachers at schools and language centres, helping with pre-school children or teaching extracurricular English course or tutoring programs. Volunteers will have time off at weekends to explore the region; take a scenic boat trip up the Mekong to the Pak Ou Caves, watch the sunset from atop Mount Phu Si, swim in the Kuang Si Waterfalls, or marvel at the many temples.

I really love this program

I really love this program working with GVI and the kids and Novice Monks in Luang Prabang. It’s a lot of fun and each day is different. The city is very special and very beautiful. I’m so lucky to have had the opportunity.

Luang Prabang is fantastic, many activities for the volunteers. The volunteers were very friendly and this was a fantastic opportunity to make new friends. The accommodation was basic however suitable. The staff seemed exhausted and lacked energy which affected many of the volunteers.
Beautiful place

Luang Prabang is a beautiful town, there's lots to see and do. The base is very simple and a bit loud, don't forget Laos is a very poor country. Teaching in mixed teams is a challenge, especially if you are a professional teacher.
