So many new friends from around the world!

August 25, 2016by: Vicki - United States

My trip was amazing! It was really hard leaving Germany because I made so many close friends there that I didn't want to be apart from. And, they were almost all international students. I was one of only 3 Americans and that was one of my favorite parts. Now I have friends all over the world! I also loved the classes, city, and lifestyle I established while there. I can tell that I changed a lot while in Germany in regards to personality, maturity, and language skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many other students will there be and where are they from?

The majority of our students are Americans between 14 and 17 years old. However, there are students participating from around the world, so your child will have a cross-cultural setting both in the classroom and outside. While the number does vary by start date, we like to keep small classes with no more than 15 students.

How can I continue studying German after the program?

The ideal next step is to join our High School Abroad program in Germany or Austria! You’ll go to a local high school for a trimester, semester, or academic year.

Am I required to speak German outside of the classroom?

Language practice and immersion are the main priority of this program. While we don't require students to sign a contract stating the need to only speak German, we highly encourage them to use their language skills when talking to friends, joining daily excursions, and at night in the residence hall or host family home. Program staff and chaperones primarily communicate and answer questions in German.
