This program offers the opportunity to work in a real-life hospital setting in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Show your dedication and help treat patients while learning about the various medical practices and treatments in Vietnam. After being introduced to the staff and the operations, you will be able to shadow one of the doctors. Not only is shadowing a doctor the opportunity of a lifetime, but it will also allow you to see if a career in the medical field will be a good fit for you, as you will gain invaluable experience. Volunteers’ responsibilities may include: shadowing medical staff, consulting with doctors, assisting radiologists with X-rays, performing check-ups on patients and/or monitoring and analyzing conditions of patients.

Confronting but in a good way

The patients and families were beautiful and so very grateful for anything we would do. It was a humbling experience.

September 08, 2018by: Sultan Alotaibi - Saudi ArabiaProgram: Vietnam – Medical Placement in Ho Chi MinhFor me ( as a medical student ) volunteering for the medical placement at Than Nhan Hospital in Ho Chi Minh was one of the best experiences of my life. shadowing the doctors all the way and getting to learn how they work really hard with limited resources was fascinating and inspiring to me. I had the opportunity to observe how skilful they are in the operating room. one of the disadvantages I countered was the language barrier, not many doctors can speak English! but most of them are trying so hard to help you understand what they are doing, and most of the time you will find someone who can translate. Ho Chi Minh is a beautiful city, BIKES are everywhere!! I have made a lot of close friends from all around the world and I am really grateful for this opportunity. Thanks to GoEco for making everything easy for me and thanks for checking on me the whole time I was doing my placement. I will never regret volunteering one month in Vietnam and I will do it again if I had the time.
