Visit the Sing Buri Province in Thailand and assist in conservation efforts with local wildlife, specifically the gibbon population. Volunteers will give aid to gibbons who may have been abused or injured, rescuing them and helping to create a secure habitat. The gibbons would have little chance of survival if they went back into the wild. Located north of Bangkok in an easygoing and relaxed part of the country, this project is situated near the border of Burma and enjoys cultural influences from the Chinese, Burmese, and Thai. Volunteers will work to gain the trust of the gibbons and focus on grooming and socializing them in order for them to learn more about human interaction. Participants may also be involved in cleaning the living areas of the gibbons, bathing them, preparing meals and feeding them, and helping with medical procedures.

Because I stayed for 3 weeks at the Gibbon Sanctuary Pharanee let me get closer to the Gibbons because they started to know me. It was amazing seeing how the Gibbons started recognizing me after a while. Also Pharanee is an amazing person!

I really felt that my work was appreciated

I really love the two weeks I had at the project with the Gibbons. I could be without the introduction week. I would rather have stayed one more week at the project instead. I felt that the more time I spend at the Gibbons project, the more it felt like home to me. I would have loved to stay their more weeks if it was possible. I really enjoyed staying at the Highland Farm and working with the Gibbons. I really felt that my work was appreciated.

I had an amazing time working with the gibbons and monkeys. Showing them love and creating a connection with the apes was incredible. There weren't as many fellow volunteers as I would of hoped but none the less still a great experience.

I went on a four month trip from october to february travelling in 5 countries but the place I miss the most is Highland Farm and Gibbon sanctuary! You get a really close relationship with both the gibbons and the owner Pharanee. She welcomes all and makes you feel like home. There is a house just for all the volunteers and a lot of time to be social as well. I had one introduktion week before the volunteering program where I met some amazing people. Anyway I wish I could have stayed at the farm longer. I hope some day to come back. Go if you love animals and want to make a difference.

This volunteering trip was not what I was expecting, but I found it better than expected. I thought that I'd just be in a sanctuary for the whole time with the same people. Instead, I found it very attractive that I doesn't significant time with different groups of peers. Previously, I was not looking forwards to the culture week. I found it actually very well done. The culture was well taught but not dull. The company I had really made learning the culture fun, as we joked around and had fun when possible but also took the activities seriously.
