This unique program can accommodate students of all levels - from those who are just beginning their university studies to those who are in their final years of medical school. This is a perfect opportunity to gain experience and enhance your CV! Most of the volunteer work is observational, but varies depending on placement. More advanced medical students may have the opportunity to volunteer in specialized unit.

Teaching proper healthcare and hygiene was a very fulfilling experience.
March 12, 2025by: Shayden HiebertProgram: Sri Lanka - Medical and Nursing ProgramTeaching proper healthcare and hygiene techniques and interacting with the school children in the community was so much fun and a very fulfilling experience. Also, getting the chance to observe how healthcare is practiced in another country was incredible, and being able to witness live surgery up close was absolutely amazing. Lastly, getting a chance to meet open and spontaneous people from all over the world was truly incredible and I made many friends with whom I will keep in touch with now that I'm back home again!

In my opinion it is important to contribute and on the way to enrich your knowledge about the world, not just to be a tourist in the country. I saw the differences between the hospital in Sri Lanka versus home and it was very meaningful!
