Study & Intern Abroad: Medical/Pre-Medical Program

Our study abroad medical internships focus on bringing basic healthcare to severely impoverished rural communities in the Dominican Republic, where families often live on less than $5 per day. They reside in isolated parts of the country with limited access to running water, electricity, or healthcare. Children often suffer from otherwise treatable diseases because of limited access to medical doctors and inexpensive medications such as antibiotics. Interns in these programs receive the necessary education to provide services such as screening, evaluation, and basic treatment for these conditions in coordination with a medical doctor.

Global Health Leaders is an international healthcare education and research firm focused on advancing accessible healthcare around the world. GHL interns and volunteers provide essential medical services in developing countries, where families live in extreme poverty and without access to healthcare services. We are passionate about developing healthcare leaders who will advance accessible healthcare worldwide.
