Our study abroad medical internships focus on bringing basic healthcare to severely impoverished rural communities in the Dominican Republic, where families often live on less than $5 per day. They reside in isolated parts of the country with limited access to running water, electricity, or healthcare. Children often suffer from otherwise treatable diseases because of limited access to medical doctors and inexpensive medications such as antibiotics. Interns in these programs receive the necessary education to provide services such as screening, evaluation, and basic treatment for these conditions in coordination with a medical doctor. Program Highlights
Join a hybrid 8-week study and internship program, spending 7 weeks of pre-travel medical training and 1 week of service in the Dominican Republic.
Gain 60 clinical hours, including 40 hours of hands-on patient care under the direct supervision of a physician and 20 hours of medical training!
Receive letters of recommendation from medical doctors and Ivy league medical business leaders.
