Amazing Experience

I am a recent college graduate who was spending a gap year in Spain before starting graduate school. I interned with Villarreal CF doing media marketing and I also took Spanish classes. The internship was an absolutely incredible experience. I was able to see firsthand how a La Liga club operates as well hone my video skills. The program also provided a home stay which was a really great experience as well. I was able to practice my Spanish daily and really feel like I was welcomed into Spanish culture. I still talk to my host family even now that I am back home. The teachers at the school were wonderful. I do recommend going into the classes with goals that you want to achieve. The program is very fluid. The teachers are very willing to work on what you want but you need to be clear about what you are trying to get out of the classes because since students are coming and going, the lessons vary a lot from week to week. This is inevitable but you can maximize what you are getting from the lessons if you are clear with the teachers about your goals. I had a wonderful experience overall and I highly recommend this program to other people.

Internship abroad

I am a senior engineering student. I studied abroad to complete my Spanish minor and gain internship experience in the engineering field. I lived with a host family (mom, dad, and sister). The family was great very friendly and generous with their home and actions. The program had optional planned activities for us, which were all very fun excursions. It was good to have a group of girls to hang out with, that I had met in class, but still have the freedom to travel on my own. It was a perfect amount of guidance and concern without feeling controlled or smothered by the program leaders. I did wish that the classes were a bit more structured. I recognize it was difficult with students coming and going, but it would have been nice to move forward in a logical manner and have more consistent teaching. My internship was much smaller scale than anticipated, but very interesting and enjoyable. I think it would have been suitable for an underclassman in engineering as well. I desired more immersion at my workplace because many of the other interns there were exchange from other countries, the common language was English. Overall I am very glad I went. It was an enjoyable livelong memory.
