Una experiencia inolvidable
March 20, 2026by: Maite Pérez - SpainProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
An experience worth having

Volunteering with Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina was an incredibly enriching experience. Being part of a project that worked directly with local communities allowed me to see how engineering can create real and lasting social impact. I liked the collaborative spirit between volunteers and community members, developing solutions together, ensuring they were practical and sustainable. A very rewarding experience, that I would highly recommend to anyone. My best wishes to ISF Argentina.
Meaningful engineering experience
March 11, 2026by: Carla Gabrielli - ItalyProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I volunteered with ISF Argentina in 2018 and 2019, working on community projects mainly in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. The experience was incredibly rewarding because the projects were developed together with the local communities, ensuring the solutions were practical and sustainable. One of the highlights was a group trip to Santiago del Estero, where we visited very remote rural communities and worked on a rainwater harvesting project. The initiative focused on collecting rainwater and storing it in large cisterns, providing families with safe drinking water in areas where access is extremely limited. What I appreciated most about the program was the collaborative approach between volunteers, engineers, and community members. It was a great opportunity to apply engineering skills in a real-world humanitarian context while learning from the people directly affected by the projects. Overall, it was a meaningful experience that showed how engineering can create a real, positive impact in communities. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in humanitarian engineering or volunteering abroad.
Great time feeling like at home

I spent some months working as a volunteer in Argentina. The experience was awesome and they made me feel I was at home. Doing something like this should be mandatory before starting the work life. The human team was also great!! Thanks a Lot for everything:)
A life-changing experience!
March 11, 2026by: Álvaro ROMERO - SpainProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I collaborated with ISF-A back in 2020. My goal was to serve communities with my professional career so I contacted ISF-A. It was a real change in my life when I joined the team, not just due to the end goal of the project but because of working closely with communities, understanding how they live and which were the main pain points of their lives. It helped me to become, not only a better professional, but a better person. This, together with the amazing team ISF-A became this experience unforgettable.
Building Community Through Engineering: My Experience with Engineers Without Borders
March 11, 2026by: Kathryn Lyons - United StatesProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I just graduated with my degree in civil engineering and am studying Spanish in Córdoba, Argentina. I wanted to do volunteering related to my field of study and was really excited to find an Engineering Without Borders group in Córdoba. I have had the opportunity to volunteer on the project 'Salón Crece desde Abajo.' It's been an amazing experience of building relationships with the ISF team and engaging with the community through this project. I felt immediately welcomed into the group and have been able to have lots of hands-on experiences so far!

A meaningful and rewarding volunteering experience con gente increíble
March 10, 2026by: Donatienne Vaute - FranceProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
Volunteering with Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina was a truly meaningful experience for me. For about 7 months, I took part in the PUMM project in Quilmes, joining the team (almost) every week. What made the experience so special was the sense of community. From the very beginning I felt welcomed into a group of incredibly kind and caring people, both among the ISF volunteers and at the community center. It was deeply rewarding to contribute, even in a small way, to a project that supports underserved communities. I also had the chance to learn practical construction skills. I have to admit I’m not the most naturally handy person and could sometimes feel a bit clumsy, but I always felt encouraged and valorized by the team. That atmosphere of patience and mutual help made the experience even more meaningful. Beyond the technical learning, this experience really broadened my horizons, helped me to deeper understand Argentina and, most importantly, allowed me to build amazing friendships <3

More than volunteering: A life-changing family in Argentina
February 27, 2026by: Fabio Castellini - ItalyProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I first connected with Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina in 2016, and even before landing in the country, I felt welcomed like family. This organization is a fantastic, inclusive, and transparent environment with a clear, inspiring mission: to make the world a better place, one brick at a time, literally! For nearly three years, my Saturdays with them were the highlight of my week. Even now, back in my home country, I find myself reminiscing about our 8:00 AM meetups at Plaza Constitución to catch the 148 bus to Quilmes. I miss the hard work on-site, the 'hands-on' approach, and the incredible feeling of seeing what collective effort can build from the ground up. Above all, I miss the people. While I’ve stayed in touch with many of them, the daily camaraderie was unique. It was a truly beautiful experience that I wish I could replicate here at home. I highly recommend ISF Argentina to anyone looking for a meaningful, grassroots volunteering experience. It will change your perspective as much as it changes the community.

Great Experience

Very rewarding volunteering experience. I developed hands-on work skills which were challenging and educational. Beyond the labor, these projects allow you to explore the city from a different perspective, and sharing with the community brings very enjoyable moments.
My journey - Engineering without borders - Argentina
February 25, 2026by: Genesis Perez - VenezuelaProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
My journey at Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina began a year and a half ago as a volunteer in the Quilmes project (Communitarian center PUMM). During that time, I learned an immense amount — not only from a technical perspective, but also on a human level. It was there that I truly understood the impact that committed, organized, and collective work can have on people’s lives. Through teamwork, support, and shared responsibility, I began to see how engineering can be a powerful tool for social transformation. Being part of the fieldwork in Quilmes allowed me to grow, to listen, to collaborate, and to understand the importance of accompanying communities rather than simply executing projects. It helped me dimension the real scope of what we can achieve when we combine technical knowledge with empathy and long-term commitment. Today, as Volunteer Coordinator in the Tigre project my role has evolved, and so has my learning. I have developed leadership skills, learned how to guide and support new volunteers, and strengthened my ability to organize, communicate, and make decisions in dynamic environments. Coordinating volunteers has deepened my understanding of responsibility, accountability, and the importance of building strong, motivated teams. This experience has reinforced my belief that engineering is not only about infrastructure — it is about people, dignity, and sustainable impact. Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina has challenged me, shaped me, and allowed me to grow personally.

Amazing Experience Working as an Engineer in Argentina
February 22, 2026by: Riley Wagner - United StatesProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I spent over 6 months with the Ingeniería Sin Fronteras (ISF- translates to Engineers Without Borders in English) team in their head office in Buenos Aires, and it was an incredible experience. During the work week, I would travel to the main office and support their efforts on general project management and fundraising. On the weekends, I would work with other volunteers on one of the several projects that they had around the Buenos Aires area (e.g. building a preschool, renovating community spaces). On several occasions, I also travelled to Santiago del Estero, a province in the interior of the country, where we worked on clean drinking water systems. Applying the engineering theory that I learned in my engineering classes to the real world (and in another language!) was challenging but extremely rewarding. The ISF team is full of incredibly kind and passionate people who are eager to support and do their part to make their communities a better place. Overall, I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in applying engineering concepts to the real world, improving their Spanish, learning about Argentinean culture, and making a real difference in some disadvantaged communities.

Best place to get to know people from different realities (and some construction techniques too)
February 19, 2026by: Diego Gil - VenezuelaProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I volunteered with Engineering Without Borders Argentina (ISF-AR) for a long time, and it was a wonderful experience—one I’d recommend to anyone who wants to meet local people, give something back to communities working to make the world a better place, or learn to build things with their own hands (or all three at once). You’ll find top-notch organization and preparation for day-to-day operations, visit underserved communities beyond the usual tourist destinations, meet so many people from different backgrounds, and take part in different teams depending on your interests. Along the way, you’ll very likely form some great friendships too. Overall, an excellent experience. Kudos to everyone who makes this possible. get to know so many people that come from so many different places

Where engineering meets purpose
February 13, 2026by: Zeno Farina - ItalyProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
Volunteering with Engineers Without Borders in Argentina has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life. For almost two years, I had the opportunity to contribute to the construction of two small schools in underserved areas of Buenos Aires. I was responsible for designing and implementing the electrical systems, including lighting and power, ensuring the buildings were safe and fully functional. What made this experience truly special was not only building physical infrastructure, but working side by side with the local community. I also delivered basic electricity workshops, sharing practical knowledge that could help create future employment opportunities linked to maintaining the facilities. Seeing how technical skills could empower people and support long-term community development was incredibly inspiring. Being part of a project that combined engineering, education, and social impact left me with a deep sense of pride and optimism.

Volunteering without Borders with Passion
February 12, 2026by: Sathishkumar ArumugasamiProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
Volunteering with Ingenieros Sin Fronteras was my first real volunteering experience, and it came at a time when I was a complete stranger in a new country, new people, new culture, new language. Getting introduced to ISF through a friend was genuinely life‑changing. I suddenly found myself working alongside people from all walks of life – teachers, engineers, technicians, students, and even people who had never done any kind of physical labor – all willingly giving up one day a week to support a cause and give back to society. For me personally, it became a window into the local people, their passion, and their warmth. The way volunteers cared for each other and for the communities we served was outstanding. Whatever the work was – drilling, mixing cement, raising a wall or something else – the expert ISF team always broke it down into simple, manageable tasks. By the end of each day, even someone who had never held a tool before felt a real sense of achievement and belonging. ISF gave me a space to help, to bond with people, to understand the culture more deeply, and to have fun at the same time. It was a complete, unforgettable experience that shaped how I think about community, teamwork, and using my skills to make a difference.
Engineering that transforms realities: My experience with Engineers Without Borders.
February 11, 2026by: Stick Mosquera - ColombiaProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
Volunteering with Engineers Without Borders was one of the most enriching experiences of my academic journey, both professionally and personally. This organization shows that engineering goes far beyond calcularions and blueprints, it is a powerful tool for real social transformation. During the project, we worked on basic infrastructure for a vulnerable community. What I valued most was that the work was not done for the community , but with the community. Local residnets actively participated in every stage of the process, from planning to execution. This approach not only strengthens their sense of ownership, but also fosters learning, autonomy, and empowerment. Teamwork was essential throughout the experience. Working alongside other volunteers, students, and professionals allowed us to exchange technical knowledge while also reinforcing values such as empathy, commitment, and social responsibility. Each day brought real technical challenges, on-site decision making, and the need to adapt to limited resources, turning the project into a truly hands on learning experience. Engineers Without Borders reminded me why I chose this career: to ensure that engineering has a real and meaningful impact on people’s lives. I strongly recommend being part of this organization to anyone who wants to practice engineering with social awareness and human commitment. It is an experience that transforms both the community and oneself.

Fantastic hands-on projects with great people
February 11, 2026by: Smai Fullerton - United StatesProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I volunteered with ISF in 2025 and worked on a community center outside of Quilmes. The volunteers and hosts were fantastic, welcoming, and good vibes, and you can tell that building strong relationships is an integral part of the org. I learned some new construction skills and always ended the day happy and accomplished. I don't hesitate to recommend ISF to anyone!

Building Skills While Building Community
February 10, 2026by: Chloe -TTA- - ItalyProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
Volunteering with Engineering Without Borders in Argentina was such a rewarding experience. It’s an amazing opportunity to learn real, hands-on skills, like building walls, installing electrical systems, or refurbishing abandoned buildings, while working on projects where you can actually see the impact on the local community. What really stood out to me is how closely EWB works with the community. The projects aren’t just decided from the outside, they’re discussed and planned together with the people who benefit from them. The community is involved in the work too, which creates a real sense of teamwork and makes the projects sustainable and long-lasting. The atmosphere among volunteers is also great. Everyone is friendly, supportive, and happy to teach you new things, no matter your level of experience. If you’re looking for a place to develop practical skills, get your hands dirty, and contribute to something that truly matters, this is definitely the place to be,

Amazing opportunity to help a community and meet nice people
February 10, 2026by: Daniel Patronik - United StatesProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I volunteered with ISF in 2025 during a study abroad semester in Argentina. The project we worked on was in Quilmes Oeste, where we helped build a community center for children. This was a great opportunity to help those in need, while also meeting such kind-hearted individuals (and getting to practice my Spanish!). I got to learn many practical skills while also helping a greater cause. Being able to work with a very inclusive team really helped, as well. They made it very easy to join and participate, such as organizing transportation and communicating. If I return to Argentina someday, I would love to participate with ISF again!

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I have always believed that engineering should be a tool for social transformation, but after finishing university, I struggled to find a professional space where I could truly make that vision a reality. I discovered ISF-Ar just as it was emerging, and it immediately helped me build a sense of purpose. Being part of the organization since its early stages has been incredibly rewarding, as it allowed me to not only grow with the project but also to actively participate in constructing our horizontal approach to solving structural problems and favouring access to rights. It is the place where my technical background finally aligned with my commitment to improving quality of life
