More than volunteering: A life-changing family in Argentina
February 27, 2026by: Fabio Castellini - ItalyProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
I first connected with Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina in 2016, and even before landing in the country, I felt welcomed like family. This organization is a fantastic, inclusive, and transparent environment with a clear, inspiring mission: to make the world a better place, one brick at a time, literally! For nearly three years, my Saturdays with them were the highlight of my week. Even now, back in my home country, I find myself reminiscing about our 8:00 AM meetups at Plaza Constitución to catch the 148 bus to Quilmes. I miss the hard work on-site, the 'hands-on' approach, and the incredible feeling of seeing what collective effort can build from the ground up. Above all, I miss the people. While I’ve stayed in touch with many of them, the daily camaraderie was unique. It was a truly beautiful experience that I wish I could replicate here at home. I highly recommend ISF Argentina to anyone looking for a meaningful, grassroots volunteering experience. It will change your perspective as much as it changes the community.

Great Experience

Very rewarding volunteering experience. I developed hands-on work skills which were challenging and educational. Beyond the labor, these projects allow you to explore the city from a different perspective, and sharing with the community brings very enjoyable moments.
My journey - Engineering without borders - Argentina
February 25, 2026by: Genesis Perez - VenezuelaProgram: Volunteer with Engineering Without Borders Argentina
My journey at Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina began a year and a half ago as a volunteer in the Quilmes project (Communitarian center PUMM). During that time, I learned an immense amount — not only from a technical perspective, but also on a human level. It was there that I truly understood the impact that committed, organized, and collective work can have on people’s lives. Through teamwork, support, and shared responsibility, I began to see how engineering can be a powerful tool for social transformation. Being part of the fieldwork in Quilmes allowed me to grow, to listen, to collaborate, and to understand the importance of accompanying communities rather than simply executing projects. It helped me dimension the real scope of what we can achieve when we combine technical knowledge with empathy and long-term commitment. Today, as Volunteer Coordinator in the Tigre project my role has evolved, and so has my learning. I have developed leadership skills, learned how to guide and support new volunteers, and strengthened my ability to organize, communicate, and make decisions in dynamic environments. Coordinating volunteers has deepened my understanding of responsibility, accountability, and the importance of building strong, motivated teams. This experience has reinforced my belief that engineering is not only about infrastructure — it is about people, dignity, and sustainable impact. Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Argentina has challenged me, shaped me, and allowed me to grow personally.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
Working with Engineering Without Borders Argentina showed me that engineering is ultimately about service, especially to communities facing the greatest challenges. I witnessed how technical knowledge, when guided by ethics and social awareness, can become a powerful force to reduce inequality.
