If I could give this company, more particularly Olivia 100 stars I would !!!! My experience in China was life changing, and along the ride for everything was Olivia. She made sure I was always doing okay, helped me with everything I needed and was always available day and night even if I just wanted to vent. I loved my experience in China but I don't think it would've been half as fun if I didn't have Olivia. Leaving your home country to stay somewhere that's the polar opposite of what you know is extremely intimidating, but having someone close to you like a sister to help and advice you make everything so much easier!! I think it is a good experience to live and that allows you to learn a lot. I got the opportunity to meet the whole family, they took me to their hometown and I met all the relatives (truly beautiful people). I got close to the child and got fond of him even if I did not have a lot of time to spend with him, since he had classes during the day throughout the whole period of my staying. The family also had 20 days of vacation in which I could not travel with them. During this period I got the opportunity to visit Shanghai and meet a lot of people. Sometimes though I found myself in uncomfortable situations because there was a bit of confusion on the agreements, which were not very clear from the beginning (working hours, days off, organisation of the family day by day and communication). I think there should be something that needs to be clarified better between the family and the agency. Also as a suggestion for the Company it would be nice to organise and propose some meetings with other aupairs or events together related to Chinese culture.

To know a culture and to live with a host family changed my life and open whole new opportunities at first was really challenging and had many upside downs but they gaveme all what the program offered and even had the opportunity to travel to many places

Hey! So i was in China doing the 5months program, everything was incredibly easy to do like the visa and stuff. I was in a supportive environment, my host family was very friendly and caring, my agent was always there for me and very helpful with all the papers, even for the daily questions i could have. I met now very good friends at school, teachers there were very nice and open to us. I really recommend the experience to everyone that wants to discover new cultures and a new language!

Hey, so i came to China for a 5 months program. I was in a supportive environment, my family was very friendly, and my agent was helping me so much about so many things! I was going at school in the morning everyday (from Monday to Friday) the school was so interesting and the teachers were always there for me, i made some friends. China is a great country, very safe and welcoming. I loved my time there and i would go back for sure!

I am delighted to express my gratitude to Chuanyue Cultural Homestay for allowing me to fully immerse myself in Chinese culture. The pre-departure arrangements were smooth, fast, and efficient. With top quality care in every aspect to ensure you are comfortable and looked after it is very difficult to not feel at home. Spending a year in China was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. I lived in Guangzhou and worked as an English language teacher. Coming from Europe, I knew it would be very different, but I didn’t fully realize how much I would grow both personally and professionally. Communication with people was sometimes difficult due to language barriers, and workplace expectations were different from what I was used to back home. Despite the challenges, the job gave me valuable experience in cross-cultural communication and taught me patience and adaptability. Daily Life Adjusting to daily life in China took some effort. Practical tasks such as setting up a bank account or dealing with government paperwork were confusing at first, but with the help of local friends, I managed. Public transport was one of the highlights — the subway system was efficient, cheap, and easy to use with apps. Food was another unforgettable part of the experience. From street food stalls to hotpot dinners with friends, I discovered flavors I had never tried before. At times, I felt isolated as a foreigner, but learning basic Mandarin helped me connect better with people and navigate daily tasks. My year in China was incredibly rich. I celebrated Chinese New Year with beautiful people, visited historic sites like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, and enjoyed traditional performances and festivals. Overall Reflection Looking back, I would definitely recommend the experience to others, but with the advice to come prepared for cultural differences and challenges. China is not always easy to adjust to, but the rewards — the friendships, the cultural insights, and the professional growth — make it worthwhile. My biggest takeaway from this year is that stepping outside my comfort zone taught me resilience, flexibility, and a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity.
