My virtual practicum experience

My practicum with CFHI provided me with valuable exposure to global HIV prevention strategies and enriched my understanding of health disparities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Through my project on PrEP education, I strengthened my skills in research translation, curriculum development, and culturally responsive health communication. I appreciated the opportunity to engage in meaningful global health work, deepen my understanding of HIV prevention across different populations, and contribute to educational tools for healthcare professionals. CFHI created a dynamic learning environment that challenged me and supported my growth as a public health professional

Amazing Learning Opportunity!

Participating in CFHI’s Pillars of Global Health Course was a truly enriching and eye-opening experience. Despite being virtual, the course was thoughtfully designed to foster deep engagement with global health themes, including health equity, social determinants of health, and culturally responsive care. The structure of the program allowed for a dynamic mix of recorded videos, interactive quizzes and research papers, all led by experienced global health professionals and community-based experts. The program promoted critical thinking, self-reflection, and cultural humility — all essential competencies for anyone pursuing a career in global or public health. The flexibility of the online format made it accessible and manageable alongside academic or clinical commitments, without sacrificing depth or quality. I would highly recommend this program to any student or health professional looking to grow their global health knowledge in an ethical, accessible, and academically rigorous way.

Highly recommended Global Health virtual program

I appreciated the adaptations that were made with CFHI to engage students in global health work during the pandemic. It emphasized aspects of global health that would have likely been overlooked during an in person experience, and really highlighted some of the important foundational work that needs to be done to strengthen communities in the long run.

A valuable experience

I think this Virtual program was amazing. Even though we were not there in person I still feel as though I learned so much and gained so much valuable experience. It was an opportunity I would do again in a heartbeat. The Director Seminars and Roundtable meetings were an amazing learning experience.

Great support and very helpful content

I think that the combination of self learning and seminars gave me a deeper understanding of global health. I really enjoyed the program. I especially experienced the content. I was able to get involved in the field I am interested in which make me very excited to learn and continue with the deliverables. My preceptor was especially helpful by meeting with me twice a week and guiding me along the entire time.

An opportunity to connect with global health leaders

The main highlights for the CFHI virtual program were being able to connect with global health leaders in the host country (India) and learn from their experiences and perspective and have them provide additional context to global health issues as it affects their communities. I liked being able to meet and learn from local health leaders in the host country.
