A great time for learning and adventure
November 12, 2024by: Lindsay Wilhelm - United StatesI had the best time studying abroad with CEA Capa in Sevilla, Spain. I lived with a host mom who was great at sharing her culture and food. We still talk to this day and she was a wonderful host. My class was amazing and is one of my favorite classes I have taken to this day. I loved the different perspectives presented on global communication. My internship placement was also great and a learned a lot. CEA hosted several events that really helped me connect and make friends with other people in my program. It was a great experience and I highly recommend choosing to study abroad with CEA.
I love Sevilla and CEA CAPA!
September 09, 2024by: Taylor Green - United StatesThe people in CEA CAPA are some of the most kind and helpful people I have met throughout the whole process of studying abroad. They made me feel heard and helped me with many of the challenges I have faced when going abroad. Seville itself is the most amazing place to study abroad. The food, people, and overall atmosphere were truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I loved everything about Seville and couldn't recommend it more to other students.

Studying Abroad with CEA CAPA
July 28, 2024by: Bronwyn GeddesI thoroughly enjoyed my experience studying abroad in Seville, Spain through CEA Capa Abroad. They have an amazing support team that guides you through the entire pre-departure process, as well as site administrators and teachers for when you arrive. I thankfully did not have any particularly difficult situations while abroad, but it was reassuring knowing that I had people I could reach out to for assistance if needed. CEA Capa has so many programs across the world and internship connections for a wide range of studies. Highly recommend for students looking for their perfect program!!
The best experience!
February 28, 2024by: Hannah Fuller - United StatesI went abroad with CEA CAPA to Seville, Spain and it was an amazing experience! I took classes at a local university, was immersed in the culture through a variety of different excursions put on by CEA CAPA, and met amazing people. This experience allowed me to better my Spanish and learn a new culture. The people that work at CEA CAPA were very friendly and answered any and all questions that I had before my trip as well as during.
Hi Hannah! Thanks so much for your feedback on your study abroad experience in Seville! So glad you had such an amazing time learning the language and culture.
Interning in Seville, Spain
February 27, 2024by: Daisy R - United StatesSeville is a captivating city that has a charming blend of rich history, vibrant nightlife, and a warm community. Tapa places are at every corner, and so are shoe stores and ice cream places. While Seville's heat in the summer is beyond, the cultural tradition of siestas help avoid the heat. A truly exceptional destination for those seeking a transformative international program. The memories you make will last you a life time and the friends you will make from all walks of life!
A very unique, explorative program
January 13, 2024by: Julia Kirkland - United StatesI originally chose to study abroad through CEA CAPA in Seville because I wanted a program that offered kinesiology related courses. The courses were fantastic and the teachers made the entire experience better. They offered local perspectives since they were both from Seville. Also, I am extremely happy with the housing option I chose. I stayed in a Casa with 5 other program students. We lived above our host family and would eat meals with them everyday. Our host mom also did our laundry and gave us traveling tips. The entire program was designed in a way that helps students feel comfortable in an unknown country. CEA CAPA pre-plans excursions that allow students to see different aspects of the local culture.
What is considered "Once in a Lifetime"
November 22, 2023by: Yazmin Cruz - United StatesIt was a beautiful experience and I gained a lot of skills along with a new perspective on my dreams/aspirations! I learned from community members, professors and friends each and every day. It was an honor to learn from people who want to see you win.
Study abroad changed my life
October 19, 2023by: Julia McCarthy - United StatesGoing abroad to a new country can be scary. CEA CAPA provided all the resources I needed plus more to help me do everything I wanted during my time abroad. Some of the things that were really important to me were having options for many classes that I was interested in that would fulfill my major and minor requirements at my home university. CEA CAPA had so many options and more. I was also able to study at a local university while also taking classes with CEA CAPA. I was also able to have volunteer opportunities through CEA CAPA which ended up being one of my most favorite and rewarding experiences of my entire abroad. The excursions were also some of my favorite times from abroad. I connected with so many people from my program and when we went on excursions I was able to spend time with my whole program.
The most impactful four months
March 26, 2020by: Lilia Anderson - United StatesCEA made my time in Sevilla truly incredible. They provided the best cultural, academic, economic and personal development opportunities. I learned so much about myself and the world. I learned to journal. I learned to speak a language, and speak it well. I learned to expose myself to new people and ideas. I learned to empathize with people living in a traditional country. I learned about the horrors of Franco and the Inquisition, about the beauties of Spanish art and female teachers in the early 1900s. The experience could not have been more worthwhile. The classes offered to me at the University of Seville (Spanish language instruction) and at the CEA center (English language instruction) were fantastic and so thought-provoking. The professors, all Sevillanos, were incredibly kind and considerate. I learned so much about culture, history, literature and art. I was able to hone my Spanish, travel around Spain and Europe rather affordably, and take advantage of the amazing CEA opportunities (everything from flamenco classes to visiting Lisbon, Portugal). I adored everything about my living situation. Lola, the kindest, most hilarious, and culinary genius of a host-mom made my life so beautiful in Sevilla. I lived in a young, hip neighborhood, full of families and murals and bars and delicious tapas, as well as other fun restaurants, like an amazing Middle Eastern one, a yummy burger place, and a truly terrific Italian heaven.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and thorough review, Lilia! We are so happy to hear you had a wonderful time with CEA in Seville, and took advantage that all the city has to offer. “The experience could not have been more worthwhile” is music to our ears! We hope you’ll stop by and say hello the next time you find yourself in Spain, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors! (And, we love the photo of the picnic watercolor!)

Best semester of my life
February 28, 2020by: Shannon Gage - United StatesMy time in Seville with CEA was literally the best three and a half months of my life. As a first-time traveler outside of the U.S., I experienced so many different places and cultures, met amazing friends, conquered my fear of flying and improved my Spanish big-time. The onsite professors and administrators, as well as the offsite staff, are very communicative, personable and helpful. They really take the time to get to know students. I really enjoyed the program excursions, especially the one to Morrocco. Taking a large group of college students to another continent for the weekend is no simple feat, but the staff handled it with grace and skill. This program and this city are close to my heart!
Thank you for your thoughtful review and kind words, Shannon! “Literally the best three and a half months of my life” is truly music to our ears. Your review echoes the same sentiments as so many of our CEA Seville alumni! Your feedback will serve as a guide for future students when researching their own study abroad programs. Be sure to stop by and say hello the next time you’re in Spain, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
Best city & best people!
February 21, 2020by: Emily Bozarth - United StatesChoosing this program has forever changed my life! I absolutely had the time of my life in Sevilla and couldn't have asked for a better study abroad experience. The best parts were the AMAZING staff and the INCREDIBLE host family they paired me with! The CEA Sevilla staff became my close friends, helping me with everything from lost luggage, to school projects, to giving me the best restaurant recommendations. The excursions that CEA organized for us were amazing and likely experiences I could have never organized on my own- like local cooking classes, flamenco shows, and even trips to Granada/Córdoba and Morocco! One of the most impactful parts of studying abroad was my loving host family. Living with them truly allowed me to learn more about the local Sevillano culture, improve my Spanish speaking skills, as well as simply develop and amazing relationship with some locals. Overall, my friends and I couldn't have chosen a better program or a better city to live in for a semester! I cannot wait to travel back and visit my friends at the CEA Sevilla Center! (shoutout to Vicky y Fede :) )
Thank you for your thoughtful review and kind words, Emily! “Choosing this program has forever changed my life” is truly music to our ears. Your review echoes the same sentiments as so many of our CEA Seville alumni! Your feedback will serve as a guide for future students when researching their own study abroad programs. Satisfying the ache for adventure
December 02, 2019by: Lilia Anderson - United StatesThe Alameda neighborhood in Sevilla is rich with bars, cafés, playgrounds, trees, beautiful buildings, and most importantly, PEOPLE! So many people stroll down the large, urban boulevard while heading home from mass, eating ice cream from Freskura, playing with children or dogs, or chatting with friends. For four lovely months, I was one of those people. By enjoying coffee from small cafés, chatting with fellow customers, strolling the narrow streets, and learning about the history of the area, or walking with a neighborhood friend and his dog, I was able to feel like part of the beautiful Sevilla tapestry. The neighborhood is young and hip, while still being rooted in deep Spanish tradition.
Lilia, we appreciate your thoughtful and thorough review of your time in Seville with CEA! It’s music to our ears to hear you had such a wonderful time abroad. This information will serve as a guide for future students when researching their own study abroad experiences. Be sure to stop by and say “hola” the next time you’re in Seville!

Life-changing experience
June 06, 2019by: Caroline Thompson - United StatesI believe that everyone's study abroad experience is unique, and no matter what program you go through, the fate of your enjoyment relies on your willingness to be open-minded and step out of your comfort zone. However, CEA provided every necessary resource in order to create the ideal study abroad experience. From flamenco dance lessons, to self-defence classes, to connecting with local Intercambio students, CEA went above and beyond to create a unique, enjoyable, and comfortable environment. Soaking in the local culture by exploring historical sites, such as the Cathedral, Giralda, Alcázar, Archivo de Indias, etc., is a great way to delve into the historical world of this city, while actively participating in the renowned "Feria de Abril" in Seville expands your perspective of dance and music, allowing you to explore a whole new cultural experience. Overall, as a result of studying abroad with CEA in Seville, my perspective on the world has broadened, and I see life from a worldly viewpoint instead of my narrowed, small-town mindset.
Caroline, thank you for your kind words and thorough review. Your detailed recommendations for Seville and study abroad insights will help guide future students when researching and deciding upon their own study abroad experiences. Getting out of your comfort zone is a great step toward getting the most out of studying abroad, and we’re happy to hear you embraced it and grew from it! We are thrilled to hear you had a great semester with CEA in Seville, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Beautiful city and great program
March 05, 2019by: Delaney Bresnahan - United StatesI loved the city of Seville. I chose it somewhat randomly and it ended up being one of the best decisions of my life. It is definitely my favorite city that I found been to in all of Spain. The culture is rich and there is a vibrancy and freshness that you won't get in any of the biggest cities in Spain. The size of Seville was perfect for me too--it is perfectly described as a medium-sized city. So, there are always things to do but also it will never overwhelm you. If you decide to come study in Seville, I would definitely recommend CEA. My favorite thing about CEA is the size of the program. There are 80 of us total who are here through CEA which means that I've gotten to personally know many of the other students in my program. I have met study abroad students who were here with other organizations who have told me that there are hundreds of kids in their programs so they don't know hardly anyone. The small size of the program also means that you get more personalized attention from the staff. They are seriously so accessible. My housing situation has been amazing. I am in the option called "Casa de Sevilla" and have had an amazing experience with my host mother and the housing situation itself. The CEA Center itself is really beautiful; I love taking classes there. Between that and the local university I take one class at (UPO), I have had a good academic experience as well. CEA provides lots of great organized travel excursions included in the cost of the program. We have been to two different cities and even another country through the program. Here in the city they also provide lots of cultural excursions such as going to a flamenco show or setting up programs to meet local Spanish students. Basically, if you're choosing between programs, I would highly recommend CEA.
Delaney, this is music to our ears! We are thrilled you had such a wonderful experience with CEA in Seville – you share similar sentiments to so many Seville alumni! Your thorough, thoughtful review will help guide future CEA students when selecting their own study abroad destinations. We wish you the best of luck with all your future endeavors!
Incredible time in Seville
May 20, 2018by: Kelly - United StatesI am so glad that I chose to study abroad in Seville with CEA. The past four months have been so incredible. With this program, I was able to visit Granada, Córdoba, and Lisbon. Each included excursion featured excellent tours and great accommodations. In Seville, I have always felt supported by the staff and the environment in the school is conducive to learning more about the city. Seville itself is extremely safe and clean.
We are so glad you had an incredible study abroad experience in Seville, Kelly. Thank you for sharing and best of luck in your next adventure! - CEA
There's nothing like Seville!
December 25, 2017by: Amanda Platt - United StatesCEA staff in Seville were unbelievably kind and supportive during the whole process - I think I might miss them the most. The city is smaller than Madrid or Barcelona, but you can find things in Seville that you can't find anywhere else in Spain. The unique mix of Arabic and Roman history is still present in the architecture and culture and learning about the cultural significance of flamenco gave me so much more appreciation. The teachers did a wonderful job at educating us about the history and culture of the city so that we could be well-rounded travelers. We had many excursions and out of class activities that really helped to solidify what we had learned in class. In addition, the CEA excursions to Morocco and Granada and Cordoba were stunning and well organized. I had a wonderful study abroad experience in Seville and I think that southern Spain is an underrated gem that more people should take time to explore.
Semester in Seville
December 21, 2017by: Nicole - United StatesThis program was very well organized and provided a great experience. The staff was helpful from the very beginning throughout the application process all the way through to any question we had while we were abroad. We had several cultural activities a month that really helped us to understand the community we were in. Seville is the perfect study abroad city. The cost of living is low, the weather is beautiful, and the city is walkable. For a true Spanish experience, this is the place to be. The professors incorporated hands-on learning within the city in our courses so that we would have the chance to interact more with this city. Overall, a great experience and it would not have been possible without CEA.
Best experience in college
November 07, 2017by: Maddie - United StatesI had the most amazing time abroad. Sevilla is the perfect place for someone who is looking for a beautiful city with rich culture and amazing people. Every hour of the day or night people are out and about and there is always something to do. The people are welcoming and the sights are amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better semester abroad.
CEA in Seville, Spain
October 29, 2016by: Kate Bromley - United StatesMy overall experience in Seville, Spain was incredible due to the wonderful staff at CEA. When I was in my beginning phases of applying to study abroad, the CEA staff were tremendously helpful in assisting me with the paperwork and general recommendations. The on-site staff in Seville were also incredible. I genuinely don't think I would have enjoyed studying abroad as much as I did if I didn't go through CEA. The staff were always available to help us whether it was with navigating through the city, restaurant recommendations, housing arrangements, academics, how to send mail, or just general everyday living things that you don't think about before you go abroad. Every single one of the staff members were friendly & caring and want to make sure you have the best experience abroad.
Would do it again in a heartbeat!
February 20, 2014by: Kathryn Moorhead - United StatesI love Seville! The city is big enough where there is tons to do but small enough where you can become an insider. The professors and staff were great; I really got to know them well and I learned so much. The traveling was also great, especially to Portugal! My only complaint was that it wasn't long enough!
Amazing experience
February 20, 2014by: Martha Pinones - United StatesMy experience helped me better my Spanish but it also helped me get immersed into the Andaluz culture!
Great Experience
February 20, 2014by: Claudia Gleason - United StatesMy Spanish has improved tremendously and that is because I was surrounded by native speakers daily. I am very grateful that I was able to experience a new life here and I really appreciate how great the teachers were AND how great my family was.
Excellent
February 20, 2014by: Jacqueline Garcia - United StatesI truly enjoyed this experienced and would love to come back.
An experience I will never forget
February 20, 2014by: Brittany Call - United StatesStudying abroad was probably the best decision to make as an international student. I got to experience a different culture and learn all about their traditions. Sevilla was beautiful and the people were so kind and helpful. The CEA administrators were awesome and would help us with anything and everything. They were here to hep with cultural shock, our excursions to other places, and help us find amazing restaurants. I am really impressed with the whole program including my house mom.
Studying Abroad
February 16, 2014by: Jalaina Jones - United StatesI would recommend studying abroad to anyone who wants to work in any field. This was an amazing experience and I would definitely want to do it again. I would recommend staying for longer than a month. :)
The most exciting way to learn!
February 16, 2014by: Cori Harris - United StatesStudying abroad has opened my eyes to how amazing the world truly is: there are so many opportunities to discover different cultures and broaden my understanding of various people in the world. There is no better way to learn than to discover and have your own experiences! I have created memories that I will never forget!
Seville is the place to be!
February 16, 2014by: Sadie Sakurada - United StatesI have never experienced anything like I did in my time at CEA in Seville. You learn something new everyday, all day. Not only do you learn about the culture, you learn what you are truly capable of. I recommend this program to anyone who's afraid of studying abroad. It's a safe, comfortable way to experience a country without fear.
The Best Time of my Life
February 11, 2014by: Jenna Martucei - United StatesI have learned so much in both of my classes as well as outside the classroom. I can honestly say that I have immersed myself in the culture and I feel like part of this beautiful, happy city. I could not ask for anything more... except more time here in Sevilla! I will be back someday, somehow.
Loved it so much I came back for more!
February 11, 2014by: Lia Palmer - United StatesI went to Barcelona during the Spring Semester of 2013 and stayed in an apartment. My classes and teachers were superb, and the cultural excursions offered were a blast! I fell in love with Spain so the administrators at CEA Barcelona and at the United States headquarters worked very hard in a short amount of time to allow me to return with a summer program, in Seville, this time around. This time I stayed in a homestay and had a awesome time as well. I full-heartedly recommend CEA-all of its campuses, teachers, housing options, classes, and opportunities for cultural immersion.
Sweet Summer in Spain

Sevilla: La Ciudad Leleal
February 11, 2014by: Kolbi Moles - United StatesSevilla is the perfect city to study abroad! So much culture but very accepting of Americans and good with tourists! A highlight was a weekend trip planned by CEA to Portugal! CEA staff was always available and wanted us to be safe while learning a lot. I encourage everyone to go with CEA. It was truly a wonderful month!
LOVE IT
February 11, 2014by: Kayeleigh Mallon - United StatesThe only thing I would change about the program is to study a full semester instead of a summer. CEA was amazing planning, educating, and immersing its students! Love everything!
One of the best experience ever
February 11, 2014by: Sharon Black - United StatesI plan on studying abroad at least one more time and I would never go anywhere else. CEA does everything they can to help you adjust, and immerse yourself in the culture. Don't go with anyone else, go with CEA!!!

I love Seville
November 08, 2013by: J.A.I did this program with CEA several years ago. I would say the classes were all the correct level of difficulty for me, and when I came home I could speak Spanish fluently. Christie Snowdon, was wonderful, she was a great onsite director! To this day I say in contact with my friends from the program. We shared so many wonderful experiences on our program trips to Granda, Valencia, Morocco, and amazing other locations! My life has been changed for the better due to this experience I learned so much and have so many wonderful friends from my time in Seville. While I was in Madrid I did experience being pick-pocketed, I lost all my things including my ID- that was stressful. The best part was that the director gave me some money to tide me over until I was able to get funding from my parents and new credit and debit cards. It was a scary thing to experience to have while living somewhere unfamiliar to me, but the CEA staff was there with me the whole time. I got a new ID, passport and everything else I needed- thanks CEA, and for giving me a big bear hug when I really needed it. I wouldn't change anything about my study abroad experience, I loved my program and continue to be a CEA spokes person. This program is a great experience definitely worth the money!
Amazing!
November 06, 2013by: jhodgegoTraveling on my own for the first time to Cadiz during Feria de Abril is my most memorable experience. Being from a small town, going a couple hours away on a bus was a big adventure. I met new friends and ended up hanging out the entire week. I learned to deep sea fish from a friend's dad who had a fishing business. My program really equipped me with the knowledge I needed to be courageous enough to set out on my own in a foreign land. I chose this program because it was the best value overall. It included my food, home stay, college classes, an onsite director, and several cultural excursions each semester. I lived with an elderly host mom and one other american girl. My host mom did my laundry, cooked for me, and was generally very helpful.
Seville is AMAZING
November 06, 2013by: Jacque AnnI studied in Seville through CEA many years ago. My onsite Director, Christie Snowdon, was AMAZING. My college classes were at just the right level and I returned speaking Spanish very fluently. I even stayed in contact with many of the others in my program. The memories of our cultural immersion trips to Granada, Valencia, Morocco, and elsewhere are fresh in my mind. I learned so many new things, met great friends, and my life will be forever different in a positive way because of this experience. I was pick-pocketed while in Madrid, lost everything even my identification. My director loaned me money until my parents could send money via Western Union to her for me and get new credit/debit cards to my home. It was a frightening experience to have in a country where I knew no one, but CEA staff were amazing. They helped my mother secure new ID for me, helped me get a new passport, and in every imaginable way. My director was there even for a hug when I needed it most. Even with that crazy story, I can say that I would do it ALL over again! I loved my program so much I tell the students I work with about this program and continue to encourage them to study abroad. This program is the best experience for your money! Living Situation: My host mom was a little difficult to get along with at times, but overall my advisor in Seville helped to ease the tension.
The best summer you could ever have
July 12, 2013by: kmoorheadI studied abroad during the summer session for 4 weeks, and it was such a great time that it only felt like a week long. The CEA staff there was AMAZING; if you wanted to know where the good shopping, music, food, parks, etc were, they knew how to help you out. The culture of Seville was incredible as well, most people didn't speak Spanish, so you really had to rely on your language skills to do just about anything. However, the shopkeepers and others could pick you out as a tourist, and so they would slow their Spanish down and try to help you out whenever they could. The excursions that we went on (Jerez, Cadiz, and Portugal) were really fun, but the days that we had were a bit chilly. Most of us in the program didn't even want to leave Seville to travel around during the program because we loved the city so much. It's definitely a much slower pace of life, and they really seem to enjoy every moment. If you're thinking about studying in Seville, just do it!! You won't regret it. Living Situation: Only thing I didn't like about living in a Casa de Seville (where you live in a house with other students, but your host mom doesn't live in with you. she does however, still cook and clean) is that I wasn't able to practice Spanish as much as I would if I stayed with a host family instead. Cultural Immersion: This one is really what you make of it. The CEA Seville staff gave you all the tools to get out and enjoy the culture of Seville and the surrounding areas, but there were students who choose not to take advantage of them. Health and Safety: There was never a time where I felt unsafe in the city. Even the CEA staff said that Seville was one of the safest cities in Spain. Social Life: Since we weren't taking classes through the local universities, it was hard to meet local students, but the social life within the students in the program was great. One of our favorite activities that we planned was going to the last soccer game of the season (which was epic).
Would Do It Again In A Heartbeat!
July 10, 2013by: kmoorheadI love Seville@ The city is big enough where there are tons to do but small enough where you can become an insider. Experience of a lifetime.
July 04, 2013by: ErikaThe city of Sevilla is more than great. It's full of adventure, there's plenty of things students can explore outside of the class. There has not been one day that I stayed in the house. I did not want to risk missing out on anything Sevilla has offered. The food, shops, people, and culture are something that I'll never forget. If I wasn't graduating soon, I would not pass up another opportunity to study abroad again here in Sevilla!
I love sevilla!
