by Broadreach
Program Overview
Find out what it takes to create a real-world marine conservation program from start to finish in Yucatan! This 18-day adventure in Mexico is a fantastic learning experience for high-school students passionate about marine science and protecting our oceans.
Students will learn about existing conservation efforts in Cozumel from the locals who are actively creating them and carrying them out. Work on sustainability projects like beach cleanups, sea turtle surveys, and mangrove restoration, while you learn research diving techniques and collect data to help find solutions to threats facing our ocean ecosystems. Enjoy the thrilling experience of swimming with whale sharks, travel to Playa del Carmen and snorkel with sea turtles, visit the Coba archaeological site and swim in a cenote, and tour Chichén Itzá and the colonial town of Valladolid.
Students will earn two natural science college credits and two PADI certifications: Advanced Open Water and Broadreach Conservation Diver Distinctive Specialty.
