Program Overview
Get ready to explore Costa Rica, one of the most biologically diverse areas in Latin America, with beach visits, jungle hikes, and waterfall swims. Volunteer at an animal rescue center working to stop illegal wildlife trafficking and teach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at a local primary school.
This global service-learning experience supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4.7 and 15.7, promoting sustainable development, human rights, and global citizenship, as well as action against the poaching and trafficking of protected species.

What kind of food is provided?
All food destinations offer a range of options that cater to various dietary needs. Much of the cuisine is very similar to what you experience at home! However, be prepared to experience some delicious entrees and desserts made by local cooks.
Who can travel on this program?
This is a charter program for the Girl Scouts and their families. GCAC Program Leaders are available to you 24/7, guiding your journey and ensuring you feel confident and connected. Our team leads the way and ensures you feel confident and connected. We also work closely with our trusted in-country partners, whose local knowledge adds rich insight and depth to every experience.
Is international travel safe?
Costa Rica is one of the safest countries in Central America. At GCAC, the safety and well-being of our travelers is our top priority. All program destinations are thoroughly vetted, and we continuously monitor local conditions to stay ahead of any potential concerns. Our experienced program leaders are CPR and First-Aid certified, and they receive comprehensive training in emergency response and crisis management.
Is the time filled with volunteer work?
Service and learning are essential, but while our programs are jam-packed with activities, we ensure that you have time to explore and truly immerse yourself in our destination. We call it 'work hard, play hard.'
