The ACT Chennai 120 hour In-Class course program provided a comprehensive and practical foundation in English language teaching. The curriculum was well-structured, covering essential areas such as language acquisition theory, lesson planning, classroom management, assessment strategies, and skills-based instruction like listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Integrated lesson plan for grammar was very nice and effective. The balance between theory and hands-on application was especially effective.

I also feel that we should make sure that we practice the same way as taught in the classroom.. The professional decorum should be maintained by all so that we do not lose the essence of we we intent to do..

What made my experience great: 1. Faculty is very knowledgeable and a master of the craft 2. Staff very helpful and amiable 3. The procedural knowledge has equipped me to impart training in a more effective manner 4. The methods and techniques used were not one-sided lecture based and hence was a good learning experience 5. The rigorous peer teach practice helped in boosting confidence to implement the learnings practically 6. Icing on the cake was the real-world teaching experience in school. Few suggestions for improvements: 1. In a mixed regional group, faculty should encourage to have conversations in English rather than regional languages whenever faculty is not present in the class. 2. Use of foul language is fine with own friends circle however trash talking should be discouraged in a professional institute premises. 3. Religion based conversations and negative discussions should be avoided in the classroom. My suggestion would be to have a guideline printed inside the premises or classrooms. A briefing on the above decorum by the staff will definitely help. Thanks.

I just have completed my post graduate so I don’t know a lot about teaching. My exposure on teaching was totally different but here I came to experience a whole new world of teaching. There are so many things that I have learned from this course such as how to make lesson plans, how to manage class, grammar concepts, different learning methods, and how to build different learning materials and most importantly, I understand the importance of student engagement or participation in the class . We have been under training for 120 hours here in Kolkata. We have not applied for jobs and this have not been placed. This question therefore is irrelevant, considering the fact that I opted for TEFL courses and not Teach abroad from the drop down menu in the previous page.

The trainer was energetic, friendly with students, knowledgeable and motivating. We learnt a lot from here. Phonemes, vowel sounds, basic grammar skills, music therapy, speech acts, reading/writing, listening and speaking, classroom practice of peer teaching, real teaching experience, teaching young as well as adult learners. My experience in ACT was really great. Teaching is not just being a teacher but being a facilitator for the students. This is a very good course to teach FLE students. The teachers Rimpa mam and Aditi mam are one of the finest teachers in ACT. This class will you a structured view on how to take class for the beginner and intermediate students. This class is very interactive which makes you feel involved in all aspects.

I got all my queries answered and the entire program was enriching. Starting from day one to the final day I felt very inclusive. The sessions are very engaging and interactive. All the class were fun, the trainers were well informed, professional and approachable. All the details and content regarding the course was easily accessible through the website. All students were encouraged and the entire programme was well planned and structured. We as students were taught through the inductive method ourselves. I had come for this 21-day TEFL in-class course with a lot of hope and it has been a wonderful journey so far. This was a 3-week in-class course in Asian College of Teachers, Kolkata. In the first week I learnt about the theories and the methodologies, Bloom’s taxonomy, Marzano’s nine instructional strategies, the differences between pedagogy and andragogy, theory of multiple intelligence and the basic lesson plan. I have learnt that every person has more than one area of interest among linguistic, logical/mathematical, spatial, kinesthetic/body, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist and every person has a different way of learning. I have received guidance at every step of the entire process. I have also learnt about the 6 assumptions of adult learners and young learners. In the second and the third week, I have learnt about skill development as a teacher on all the four lessons of reading, listening, speaking, writing and also on grammar and phonology. We learnt about the stark differences between phonology and orthography. Overall, it was a fantastic journey so far with my trainer June.

It has been a really nice experience so far. From beginning to end it has been a fabulous and unforgettable experience for me. From the 21st of February when I started my class, I had zero knowledge about TEFL. But I was passionate to learn everything about it. But to learn a system within 15 days was not an easy task to be done. But as soon as time rolled by, my facilitator June has made the learning more easy for me and I would like to thank my peers for extending to me all the help. From the beginning of the second week onwards, I have started grasping and I started evolving as per the requirement of this course. And at the end of the course, I have discovered myself. So, for me the entire journey has given me a new dimension of life. Because at the age of 50, what I have received within 3 weeks is really tough to forget. At the end of the course I have realized every bit of emotion that was within me through music, art, warmups and lesson plans. This has been a great journey and I am looking forward to evolve myself and learn more and more in the days to come.

The class was one unique of its kind. we were given an exposure to different teaching methodologies, a walk through the different modules of teaching. And an intrusive experience about corrections. First of all, we got to know how different methods and strategies could be used on different levels of English learners no matter what the age was. Especially while teaching English to adult learners. Further, the different ways of study material to be prepared according to the level of exposure of English was something to be kept mandatory. And later, the phase correction was to improve. Debriefing the ways of error correction could be modified was something which will make a big difference when put into practice. This also provided an insight on how to involve students and also encourage them. Overall, this course is a fine tuner to make us the perfect trainer.

Highly interactive and informative. We were to do activities as students and debrief them with the trainer. This helped in understanding the purpose and process of the activities.There was time to practice the lessons with peers and receive constructive feedback on the same. Co teaching with peers helped in learning best practices from others. At any point, trainers were helping with questions and confusions.

At ACT, we learnt all the skills required to be a great ESL teacher. Our trainer Kuhu, continuously inspired us to achieve more and challenged us throughout the 3 weeks to ensure we were equipped with all the skills to be able to teach language learners.

Asian collage of teaching was really a good experience for me. We had 16 people and the trainer really did a good job teaching us everything. From all the activities and all the lesson plans and the teaching practices were done very well. All of us had a really great time studying the tefl course. I had no troubles during thus time as we learnt a lot how to plan a session and how to go about in a real time scenario. We had real time training practices where they took us to schools. We taught different lesson types for different age groups. The students had a lovely time with all the activities we used and the methods we taught. Learning was effective due to the quality in teaching and the method we followed while we taught. The trainers in act are highly experienced and knowledgeable and left us with a clear cut explanation to why we do what and how we do that.

I had a really fruitful experience. The 15 days was really helpful for me. The classroom atmosphere was really energetic and the trainer too was really supportive and patient. We had three peer teach and three teaching practice sessions in school. The experience I gained from this sessions are irreplaceable.

Overall an amazing training session had a wonderful and fantastic 3weeks program. The days here was full of experience. I had no clue what to expect from this course, cause i have no experience in teaching at any level or field for that matter. To be PUNCTUAL- Punctuality pertains to its larger scale- starting from to be present on time & not in time, other than certain unanticipated or any such SOS emergencies... To provide the learners with the requisite study materials, stationary, any other similar needful necessities 7 requirements pertaining to the very Lesson & Course Plan/s. Opening of the VENUE/s, on time so that the learners aren't stranded on the roadside/or alike with heavy baggage on their shoulders- as they required to carry along the essentially required study materials with them, everyday. 2. Facial expressions & Body Language of Instructor/s: If that could be improvised at the outset in order to excel in the very field or the TT Program, in its near/distant future. It's of utmost importance as it had put me off & deviated me of my Session/s, umpteen times- at times, it'd taken a toll over my mental, emotional, physical health as well. 3. Last but not the least...The overall tempo & tenor of the very study course, according to me wasn't followed at par since its very beginning from the course counselling until its very end- It had a great mismatch at times, as it'd tend to mellow down with its pace from quite enthusiastic to absolutely sluggish, many a times. Yet, if I've to not discard the very nitty grittys of the same- but being a bit flexible on it & trying to overlook my aforementioned experiences & feedback on the same- It's was quite a fun filled, enriching, playful, joyous experience for me too, I guess, certain gained experiences herein are quite cherish-able & worth memorizing. Thanks Much ACT for everything, in this very brief/crash course.
