This placement will allow you to design your personal field research and wildlife internship around an African species of your choosing. As long as it fits in with the broader aims of our program base, you can study anything from lions, elephants, and wild dogs to smaller creatures such as reptiles or birds. The choice is yours!

Living and working from our program base (close to the Kruger National Park) in South Africa, you'll spend your days with our wildlife researchers, collecting data on your chosen species and turning that data into relevant and usable information for your studies and that of reserve management in the area. This data is then used to create conservation management plans that help to preserve the precious wildlife this region is known for.

Through camera trap surveys, habitat and wildlife mapping, game counts, and more, you'll gain unique insight into wildlife conservation in a South African context and hands-on, practical work experience to help your career in wildlife research.
