Program Overview
Teaching in another country shows leadership and communication skills that will benefit any resume. By taking on an Education or Teaching English program in Oaxaca, Mexico, participants experience a unique culture and a career-building opportunity. Adelante Abroad candidates will have the option to teach in a public primary school, a government office, a boys' juvenile hall, or to artisans who want help marketing their work. Beginner Spanish speakers welcome! Teaching English in Mexico is one of the few programs where we do not require Spanish-speaking experience. Teachers will have supervisors native to Mexico at their work placements, as well as an English-speaking Adelante Abroad Director living in Oaxaca. Is the Teaching English and Education program a paid position?
No, all of our programs are unpaid and part-time. Teaching English participants gain hands-on exposure working with local communities and professionals in the field, which is ideal for those preparing for graduate school or a future career in Teaching or Education.
What kind of housing is provided in Oaxaca, Mexico?
Participants are provided with private rooms in shared apartments located in central areas of Oaxaca, close to public transportation, and with their volunteer program location in mind.
Do I need to speak Spanish to participate?
Teaching English is one of our only programs in Mexico where we do not require the applicant to have any Spanish speaking experience. Beginner Spanish speakers welcome!
