What inspired you to join the Premier TEFL team?
TEFL was always something I wanted to do but never got around to doing the course. I love traveling and experiencing new cultures. That love has definitely inspired me to work for Premier TEFL, where I’m surrounded by travel-crazed colleagues who love to help people go abroad to teach and immerse themselves in other cultures. Everyday is different and exciting, I absolutely LOVE it.

How do you help support individuals in planning their TEFL career?
As a TEFL advisor I support people who want to pursue their TEFL career by painting a picture of what they’ll experience. We have an internship for everyone! As well as my knowledge of each internship, I use my own travel experience to advise all teachers to the best of my ability. The most important aspect to advising prospective teachers is to listen to what the individual wants out of the internship so I can point them in the right direction.
What makes TEFL a great tool for meaningful travel?
At the moment TEFL is a fantastic way to travel and see the world. I think everyone should do it. It can be challenging, but it’s so rewarding for you as a teacher, as well as your students.
What is the best TEFL tip you could share with a hopeful teacher?
Just Do IT! You will not regret taking the opportunity to travel and teach English to students abroad.

How are you influenced by your own travel experiences in your position as a TEFL & Travel Specialist?
Everyday when I’m on the phone, I speak about my own travel experiences with people who have never had those kind of adventures. It’s so exciting to me that they are about to embark on a travel adventure and see the world, sometimes for the first time. I’m influenced by new cultures: how they live, work, cook, and celebrate their beliefs and traditions.
If you could teach English anywhere, where would you go?
Thailand or Cambodia. I loved Asia when I was there, and the cost of living is cheaper there and, of course, the culture is so different than my own. It was a different world and I love that.
Why is it important for individuals to travel and experience new cultures?
I feel it’s important to experience new cultures and different countries to broaden your mind and see how other cultures live. It’s important to explore new things, taste new foods, and immerse yourself in new cultures. You’re also constantly learning new things when you’re abroad that you carry onto the next country, and of course back home. Plus you’ll always have heaps of stories to tell.

What is your favorite quality of Premier TEFL?
Teamwork. We’re always working together to grow and make the company better for TEFL teachers and I love that quality about our team.
What advice do you have for TEFL certified teachers who are entering the classroom?
To be fully confident in having your TEFL certificate completed. You have all the knowledge to teach. Be fun and to make teaching English as fun as possible, because it is!
Where do you hope to see Premier TEFL in five years?
I hope to see Premier TEFL continue to grow. We have such a great team here in the office and we all want to broaden this company. I think our love for Premier TEFL makes a huge difference in the dedication everyone has to the our teachers, and that’s what will guarantee Premier TEFL’s continued success.
