What inspired you to work for the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) after graduating in 2014?
The main inspiration for me was a great opportunity to see my Master Thesis become a reality. It was really satisfying to see how my ideas work and bring good results to my role and our team.
And of course, I can’t not forget to mention the wonderful team of young professionals who were helping and guiding me over all my UCAM experience. When you work with good people you don’t need any other inspiration, as they are themselves the best inspiration!

Sharing what we do
What qualities make UCAM easy to market in an international context?
UCAM offers a very good combination of price and quality with its programs which are in such an amazing place, Spain, where students not only can get a high quality education but also a multitude of opportunities to easily enjoy the free time.
How did your experience as UCAM’s Marketing Assistant help prepare you for your current role as International Marketing Coordinator?
My time as the Marketing Assistant at UCAM was my first experience working out of my home country, so it was the best preparation for learning how to work in an international environment.

I love talking to prospective participants
Describe a typical day at work for you.
The best thing about my job that I don't have a typical day. Every day is quite different and also depends on the season. Some seasons are full of travel, conferences, fairs, and workshops. During other periods my days are more focused on student recruitment and marketing campaigns. Meanwhile, there is also a period of data analysis and planning and training.
How do you hope to continue to build UCAM’s brand?
UCAM is a very good brand which is getting stronger every year and I have many strategies in my mind. But generally speaking, they are all focused on growing the number of international students, meanwhile keeping the diversity in nationalities.

We love UCAM!
You must be passionate about the work you are doing since it influenced your master thesis. What is your favorite part of your job?
I generally enjoy working in the industry of Higher Education as there is no other sector where you can be so updated on what is happening in the world at the moment. And of course, I enjoy the international environment a lot and the possibility of travel opportunities to see different cultures and meet new people.
What challenges do you often face and how do you overcome them?
Since the areas I manage are so different from one another, the challenges I normally face are based on cultural differences, different cultural norms, and the constantly changing laws which affect many aspects of student recruitment. But as a team we try to keep each other updated and we know how to adjust our strategy in case something unexpected comes.
Why do you think it’s important for people to travel and experience new cultures?
Traveling and experiencing new cultures opens so many opportunities, not only in the job search, but also for personal growth. People become more tolerant, open-minded, and conscious.

Riding around!
Do you have any advice that you would like to share with students embarking on international journeys?
I want to advise future students to not be scared of trying new things, and to remember that new challenges are always fun; even if it looks difficult, it will be one of the best experiences they will have.
What hopes do you have for the future of UCAM?
I hope that UCAM will become the most international university in Spain.
