Study abroad student dancing with children in Spain

The internship: helping children with their dance moves!

Why did you intern abroad?

I enjoying traveling, meeting new people, and going out of my comfort zone. Interning abroad allowed me to do all those, in addition to more experience in another culture.

What made you select Spain?

I spent a few years studying the language and culture, so I thought it would be the perfect place!

Why did you choose Performing Arts Abroad for you program abroad?

I chose Performing Arts Abroad because I felt it catered to my specific art form and the type of experience I wanted to have.

What was a typical day like for you in Spain?

For me, a typical day in Spain was spending five hours at my internship, then the rest of the day was going to the beach, walking around/sightseeing, finding somewhere to eat, and meeting up with friends I met. The day typically finished with dinner at my home stay.

What was the most memorable experience you had interning in Spain?

My most memorable experience was meeting and working with people from around the world who I could connect with, make friends, share my passion, learn new things, and have new experiences with.

If you had the chance to go abroad again, would you grab the opportunity?

Going abroad I really felt like I learned a lot about myself: the kind of person I am, and the kind of person I want to become. It gave me clarity on the things I value in live, the goals I have for myself, and where I see myself in the future. I would go abroad again because it opened my eyes.

Would you recommend your Performing Arts Abroad program to others?

Yes, Performing Arts Abroad was very supportive in the process from the moment I arrived until the moment I came home. They were also very good at taking in suggestion and feedback.

What changes would you recommend for your program?

I would recommend not taking on so many interns. It was hard for them to keep it organized and be more available.

If you could go on another program abroad, where would you go?

I would go to South America. Again, the language and culture has always been an interest. I also think Sweden would be a good place to travel from the scenic portion to the cultural differences.
