Chiang Mai has many foreign ex-patriots and there are multiple publications catering to that community. The largest and most widely recognized of these English entertainment magazines within Northern Thailand is now available as an internship project. This well established, yet unique and dynamic, entertainment magazine has a variety of sections such as local news, local events, announcements, and also in-depth articles about the region of South-East Asia. In addition to the magazine, the company also works with web design and various other media outlets. This magazine is not only appealing for an intern because of its vibrancy, but also because of its inviting staff and office space. It is the perfect experience for individuals who are searching for experience in a very well publicized international media outlet.
Interns in the project will work with the Thai and foreign, native English speaking staff in one or many of the following areas:
* Editorial
* Marketing
* Web Design
* Photography
* Print and design
* Multi media
Interns are invited to work in multiple areas of the business during their internship. Each area is only open to one intern at any one time to insure a personalized experience. Working hours for regular interns will normally be between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm on weekdays, but on special occasions (such as the monthly party) interns may be required to work on weekends and evenings.
The amount of hands on work an intern is able to conduct will depend largely upon his/her ambition and abilities as well as prior knowledge, experience and education. The magazine is very open and thrives on new ideas and self initiated projects. Therefore, if an intern produces high-quality, high-content work which corresponds with the current theme of the magazine, there is the potential to be published.
Because the magazine is an English periodical, most of the 40 employees are able to easily communicate in English. Additionally, there are a few western employees, which include the managing editor. All things considered, it is unquestionably an excellent opportunity to get to experience work in a Thai/international surrounding.
If you are looking for a distinct experience that not only looks good on a resume, but also provides you with an amazing international experience, and a chance to get published, this is the project for you.

The mission of Friends For Asia is twofold. We offer an opportunity for people to contribute, in a meaningful way, to the improvement of standards of living by building capacity in our host agencies and we provide committed volunteers to work on projects developed with host agencies that benefit the people of Thailand.
