The neurobiology that underpins neurodegenerative disease has been a focus of intense and exciting research activity over the last several decades.

In this course, you will learn how neurobiology is harnessed to identify treatments and create sensitive tests for early disease diagnosis. The case study of Alzheimer's disease will illustrate this. Key learning outcomes will include appreciating early neurobiological changes that arise in affected neurons, understanding the effects of toxic proteins on neurons as the disease progresses, identifying treatment targets, and learning how disease-related changes are picked up in diagnostic tests.
