Program Overview

South Korea's EPIK program and most private hagwons require a TEFL certificate of at least 100 hours alongside a bachelor's degree, a threshold EPIK states on its own eligibility page. Premier TEFL's 120-Hour Accredited TEFL Course clears that minimum and covers lesson planning, classroom management and teaching methodology Korean employers expect.

What South Korea asks for: a bachelor's degree, citizenship of one of seven countries (Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK or the US), and a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA certificate of at least 100 hours, unless you hold a teaching license or education degree. The E-2 visa is the route most teachers use. Hagwons apply similar standards but hire year round.

Which course fits: This 120-Hour course clears EPIK's 100-hour minimum. For international schools or better-paying hagwons, our Ofqual regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma is the step up.

What's included: Self-paced online study, tutor support, and a recognized TEFL certificate on completion.

Next step: Confirm your degree and passport meet the criteria above, then enroll online. Ask about our South Korea internship for certification plus a placement.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to all the most common questions about Premier TEFL.

Do I need to speak Korean to teach English in South Korea?

No, Korean schools prefer English-only classrooms, and your TEFL training will give you the skills to teach without using the local language.

What qualifications do I need to take this TEFL course?

EPIK and most South Korea employers require a bachelor's degree and citizenship of one of seven countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK or the US. You also need a TEFL certificate of at least 100 hours, which this 120-Hour Accredited course provides.

How long does it take to finish the 120-hour TEFL course?

The course can be completed in 4–6 weeks if you study full time, but you’ll have up to 6 months to finish.

What is EPIK, and how much can I earn?

EPIK (English Program in Korea) is the government program placing teachers in South Korea's public schools. Premier TEFL's course meets its TEFL requirement, though you apply to EPIK separately. EPIK pay runs approximately ₩2.1 to 3.0 million per month (roughly $1,600 to $2,300 USD), often with housing and flights included. Figures are approximate.

Will I get help finding a teaching job in South Korea?

Yes. Graduates get access to a global job board, application advice, and connections to employers in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and other major cities.
