Africa is faced with numerous health problems such as cancer, trauma, cardiac disease, AIDS/HIV, alcohol abuse, and so much more. There are many ways to help address these issues, and one is signing up for the Medical Internship offered at the Department of Human Biology. This opportunity offered by Magister takes you to Cape Town where you will work with a range of specialists, from physicists to computer scientists.

 You will be assigned to a project within your field of expertise, skills, and interests; helping with one of these core research areas: 
- Electroencephalography and brain-computer interfaces 
- Electromyography and biomechatronics; low-dose digital X-ray imaging for primary health care 
- Magnetic resonance imaging; screening for fetal alcohol syndrome using stereophotogrammetry 
- Automated sputum smear microscopy to detect tuberculosis 
- Social-affective neuroscience digital mammography

To be eligible for this program, you must:
- Be studying towards a degree/diploma in Biomedical Engineering or a related area
- Have some past experience (preferable)
- Possess good analytical skills
- Be able to work well in a team and independently
