The Thanda Wildlife Diaries
May 06, 2014by: Dhayvat Udeshi - VadodaraProgram: African Big 5 Wildlife Conservation Project in South Africa
I spent a month at the Thanda Game reserve on a Photography course along with wildlife conservation and community service. I simply got addicted by Africa and African Impact became my family. The comfort and the warmth that I received at every single moment when I was there led me to depression in regular life when I returned back home. Waking up every single morning to the sun rising over astounding landscapes which may include the occasional giraffe and a pride of lions. Every breath we took there was pure and serene. The subtle nuances of nature amaze and excite as we saw the 'Pride' and Prejudice of Lions and the brotherly love amongst the cheetahs. And just as a topping amongst the already amazing things mentioned was seeing the milky way every single night amongst sounds of hyena's cackling and the cat's roaring. African Impact seems to have built on a foundation of strong values that personify warmth and spell out Fun. 4 weeks of my life I don't mind looping till the end of life.

This was an amazing experience, I learned an immense amount and met wonderful people along the way! I wish we could have seen more of where the research is going and be a stronger part of the research. Also I would love to have been a larger part of the community aspect. Otherwise the accommodations, the people and the experience was one of a kind and wonderful.
