What inspired you to work for Syracuse Academy?

I was inspired to work for my organization because it's a multicultural context full of new challenges every day.

Also, I work with and am in contact with people from all over the world with a passion for foreign languages.

Describe a typical day at work.

A typical day at work for me starts with arriving at the office and checking my emails, Whatsapp business, and calendar for any urgent tasks or meetings scheduled for the day. I then prioritize my to-do list and start working on my projects, collaborating with my colleagues.

We communicate with parents about student progress and address any concerns or issues that may arise. Generally, I’ll participate in either staff meetings, professional development workshops, and training sessions to enhance new skills and knowledge–whatever’s in the schedule.

One of the most important activities is encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities, such as game nights, conversation classes, and cultural events, to further immerse themselves in the English language and culture.

What advice would you tell your pre-travel self?

I would not have had special advice for my pre-travel before I started working in this organization. Just give your best as always and learn as much as possible from a different environment and new people.

Why should someone choose Syracuse Academy over competitors?

I think working in this organization is an excellent opportunity because it has a solid reputation built over 40 years of experience.

It’s a great opportunity for young employees who have excellent motivation, are resourceful, are ready to take on new challenges, and with experience abroad.

What is your organization's mission, and how do you continue to work toward it?

Our organization's mission is to provide high-quality language instruction in an inclusive learning environment. We continue to work toward this mission by creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all students. We promote cultural exchange, and also take care of the professional development of our teachers to ensure they are current on the latest language teaching methods and technologies.

We regularly seek feedback from our students to continuously improve and adapt our programs to meet their needs and goals.

What do you hope participants take away from your programs?

I hope that participants in our Italian programs are able to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Italian language, culture, and way of life. I also hope that they are able to improve their language skills and feel more confident in using Italian in both professional and personal contexts.

Ultimately, I hope that participants leave our programs feeling inspired, motivated, and excited to continue their journey of learning and exploring all things Italian.

Why is it important for people to travel abroad and experience new cultures?

Traveling abroad and experiencing new cultures is important for a few reasons.

First of all, personal growth because traveling abroad pushes people out of their comfort zones. It forces them to adapt to new situations, which can help them become more resilient, adaptable, and confident.

Also, traveling abroad allows individuals to share their own culture with people from different backgrounds. It harbors a habit of learning about others' traditions, customs, and beliefs. This cultural exchange can foster mutual understanding, respect, and appreciation for diversity.

Why do you think learning a new language is important?

Learning a new language is important because it can give you a competitive edge in the job market and help you gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures, traditions, and ways of thinking.

It can also provide a sense of personal fulfillment and open up new opportunities for personal and intellectual growth.

What is your definition of ethical global engagement?

Ethical global engagement means creating interactions and relationships with individuals around the world and respecting their rights, dignity, and autonomy. Also, conducting business responsibly and ethically.

What does meaningful travel mean to you?

To me, meaningful travel means immersing oneself in a new culture and connecting with local communities. Meaningful travel also involves being respectful towards the environment, local traditions, and people and leaving a positive mark on the places we visit.

Ultimately, meaningful travel is about creating long-lasting memories and connections that enrich our lives and contribute to a more interconnected global community.
