What inspired you to work for LEOlingo North?

As a language and sports teacher, I liked the idea of learning languages through games and activities. I always loved to travel and communicate with people from all over the world. That is the idea of LEOlingo, to learn a language from native speakers in an active environment.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Organizing camp activities, creating full board and lodging for kids and counselors, working with people from all over the world, learning more about the world and different cultures, and speaking different languages the whole day long.

Participating in LEOlingo adventure camps are what we look forward to the most every year.

How do you use your education and international background in your current role?

I have learned English, French, and Spanish in school and during my time at university. I have traveled the world and I have lived three years abroad. Furthermore, I studied education and became a French and sports teacher. I organized class trips with outdoor activities and language trips to England and France.

What advice would you tell your pre-travel self?

It is fun and challenging being in a camp atmosphere and working with people from all over the world. Also, it is fun to learn more about the world and different cultures while learning to speak in different languages.

Why should someone choose LEOlingo North over competitors?

LEOlingo is a small family business and everything is organized, very personal and well thought out. Every member of the team is very helpful and enthusiastic. We care about good working conditions, nature, sustainability, good food, fair trade products and a friendly learning atmosphere for kids and counselors.

What is LEOlingo North's mission and how do you continue to work toward it?

Beyond the practical elements of language instruction, LEOlingo is committed to creating an open and fair environment for campers, their families, and our staff members. We foster an environment where individuals are free to explore and express their individual ideas. We welcome all questions, concerns, and suggestions for making sure all members of the LEOlingo family feel safe and respected.

What do you hope participants take away from your programs?

LEOlingo offers the opportunity for young people across Germany to easily step into a completely different country to fully immerse themselves in a new language and culture. Whether English, French, or Spanish speaking, counselors from all over arrive as ambassadors from their respective countries ready to deliver a lively insight into their native language and culture.

Campers get to step out of the classroom for the week-long language camp offering a diverse program full of fun, excitement and learning in a nurturing environment. Beyond the typical summer camp experience, LEOlingo allows participants to create memorable bonds not only with other German children but also with their diverse staff of counselors.

Why is it important for people to travel abroad and experience new cultures?

At LEOlingo our mission is to open doors for young people, allowing them an enjoyable and safe place to learn, question, and connect. As our world grows smaller, we hope to ignite curiosity and build understanding across borders for all of our campers and our team.

What does meaningful travel mean to you?

Meaningful travel means to step into a completely different country, fully immersed in a new language and culture.
