Diana loves to travel, so much so, she was a former flight attendant in a local airline in the Philippines. She is currently working on her social media management skills related to travel. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Management from Cebu Institute of Technology-University.

What inspired you to work for your organization?

First I love how my creativity is utilized at its highest. Managing content in social media platforms could be very challenging but I'm always eager to learn and level up.

My leaders/ managers are super patient and they always make sure that I'm doing well even though I'm on a special arrangement work set-up. I have always felt their care.

Describe a typical day at work.

My typical day at work involves the following schedule:

  • Start with social media management
  • Content making
  • create Canva templates
  • Take a lunch break
  • Postings on Social Media
  • Make blog drafts
  • Upload on WordPress
  • brainstorm content ideas
  • Schedule posts for Social Media platforms

What advice would you tell your pre-travel self?

I should be ready for the adventure. Prepare essentials, must-haves depending on the country I'm going to. Research about the country, the dos and don'ts, the must-visit places. The currency and the accommodation and also my purpose of travel.

Have a backup plan for emergencies, such as having extra funds and knowing emergency contact information.

Embrace the journey and enjoy every moment of the travel experience.

What makes your organization special?

It's employee-friendly. It always extends a hand to those who are in difficulty. It never fails to help others in times of need. The management has great leadership skills. They lead by example, embodying integrity, vision, and empathy in every decision they make.

Their approachable demeanor and open-door policy foster a culture of transparency and trust, allowing for open communication and constructive feedback.

Ultimately, our goal is to inspire and empower participants to become lifelong learners, leaders, and contributors to their communities and beyond.

Why is it important for people to travel abroad and experience new cultures?

Experiencing different cultures exposes individuals to diverse ways of life, beliefs, and traditions, broadening their perspectives and fostering empathy and understanding. Traveling challenges individuals to step out of their comfort zones, adapt to new environments, and navigate unfamiliar situations, promoting personal growth, resilience, and self-discovery.

Engaging with locals and immersing oneself in a new culture facilitates meaningful cultural exchange, fostering mutual respect, appreciation, and intercultural communication. Traveling allows individuals to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions they may have about other cultures, promoting tolerance and dismantling barriers.

What does meaningful travel mean to you?

Meaningful travel, to me, encompasses experiences that go beyond mere sightseeing and tourist attractions. It involves immersing oneself in a destination's culture, connecting with local communities, and fostering personal growth and understanding.

Meaningful travel is about engaging authentically with the places visited, whether through volunteering, cultural exchange, or sustainable tourism practices. It involves forming genuine connections with people, gaining new perspectives, and contributing positively to the places visited.

Ultimately, meaningful travel leaves a lasting impact not only on the traveler but also on the communities and environments encountered along the way.
