What inspired you to work for Spanishslow?

Creating a linguistic and cultural immersion project that truly focuses on the participant's immersion.

I want to make sure that the students feel at home, disconnect from their routine, and live an experience they will never forget.

Additionally, after many years away from my homeland, I want to reconnect with it while sharing it with the world.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Connecting with people, achieving and learning goals, meticulously preparing all experiences, and creating unforgettable memories alongside people from all over the world.

I love that each day is different, allowing participants to connect with local people and learn from them. Ensuring that the program stays true to the Slow philosophy.

What advice would you tell your pre-travel self?

Interact with other travelers like you or with local people. Don't be afraid to express yourself in a language that is not your own; you are capable of communicating.

Travel light and come back with your suitcase full of experiences.

Allow yourself to improvise and be present in each of the experiences that come your way. Use your phone only to capture moments.

What makes Spanishslow special?

The people behind the project. Everyone involved in making this experience possible is eager to welcome participants, taking care of every detail to ensure that each day is unique.

Furthermore, our communicative teaching method departs from traditional level-based instruction and rigid grammatical structures. We want you to live the language.

Why should someone choose your organization over competitors?

Most language and cultural immersion programs in Spain are located in major cities, lacking notable cultural experiences, with class hours dominating the majority of the day.

In our case, we are situated in a rural area, providing more opportunities to interact with local people who have time to dedicate to visiting tourists. Additionally, our schedule is filled with interesting experiences that will ensure you make the most of your stay.

As such, we will have an hour and a half of class sessions per day, focusing on communicative approaches. This will be sufficient to ensure that students improve their Spanish level, considering the additional experiences offered.

Moreover, the accommodation we offer deviates from the norm of many immersion programs. You will have access to individual or shared apartments with other participants, where we guarantee your comfort.

What is your organization's mission and how do you continue to work toward it?

Our organization's mission is to provide immersive language and cultural experiences that go beyond traditional language learning methods. We strive to create an environment where participants can truly live the language they are learning, connecting with local communities, and gaining a deeper understanding of the culture.

We continue to work toward this mission by constantly innovating our programs, incorporating feedback from participants, and seeking out meaningful partnerships with local communities and organizations. By focusing on experiential learning and fostering genuine cultural exchange, we aim to inspire personal growth, broaden perspectives, and promote cross-cultural understanding!

What do you hope participants take away from your programs?

We hope that participants take away a profound sense of cultural immersion, linguistic proficiency, and personal growth from our programs. Beyond language skills, we aim for them to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the local culture, forge meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds, and gain confidence in their ability to navigate new environments.

Ultimately, we aspire for our participants to leave with unforgettable memories, enhanced global awareness, and a renewed enthusiasm for exploring the world and engaging with diverse communities.

Why is it important for people to travel abroad and experience new cultures?

Broadens Perspectives: Experiencing different cultures exposes individuals to diverse ways of life, beliefs, and values, broadening their perspectives and fostering greater empathy and understanding.

Personal Growth: Travel challenges individuals to step out of their comfort zones, confront new situations, and adapt to unfamiliar environments, leading to personal growth, increased self-confidence, and resilience.

Cultural Exchange: Engaging with people from different cultures promotes mutual respect, tolerance, and appreciation for cultural diversity. It allows individuals to learn from one another and fosters connections that transcend borders.

Language Acquisition: Immersing oneself in a new culture provides an ideal environment for language learning, allowing individuals to practice and improve their language skills in real-life situations.

What does meaningful travel mean to you?

Meaningful travel, to me, means engaging in experiences that go beyond mere tourism and leave a lasting impact on both the traveler and the communities visited. It involves immersing oneself in the local culture, connecting with people, and gaining a deeper understanding of the destination's history, customs, and way of life.

Meaningful travel is about fostering genuine interactions and relationships with locals, contributing positively to the communities visited, and being open to learning from different perspectives. It's about stepping out of one's comfort zone, embracing new challenges, and approaching travel with curiosity, respect, and humility.
