  • Description

Bilbao (Pop. 354,000) has gained recent fame for being home to the Guggenheim Museum constructed by Frank Gehry in 1997. Since opening its doors to the public the museum has spurred urban renewal projects throughout the city, closing off commercial districts to automobile traffic and creating more public spaces and public transportation. All of these developments make Bilbao an ideal place to spend an extended period of time.

Smart, cosmopolitan and just minutes from the coast, Bilbao is a great place for students. The University of Deusto is one of Spain's most prestigious private universities and was founded by the Jesuits in 1886. It is located directly across the river from the Guggenheim, Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, several public parks and jogging and biking paths running the length of the city along the Nervion. Students will find Bilbao to be beautiful, easy to get around and an ideal place to study.

Testimonials

I loved studying abroad and I believe that every college student should go somewhere different and new for at least a semester. My four months in the Czech Republic were some of the best times ever...
