Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world.
The Universidad de Salamanca, nicknamed the 'Oxford of the Spanish World,' is one of Europe's oldest universities and has a student population of 30,000. IES students may enroll in classes at the Universidad de Salamanca while they take most classes at the IES Center located on the campus of the Universidad. All classes are taught in Spanish. Achieving proficiency in Spanish is a major goal and result for most IES Salamanca students. The staff arranges special extracurricular activities to help students learn more about the Spanish people and culture. Tours of historical sites, attendance at theater and opera, and informal dinner parties are some of the ways students' academic experiences are enriched.
All courses taught in Spanish by Spanish university faculty. Semester, full-year, and summer options available. Housing in Spanish homes with seýoras or families. IES courses in Art History, Economics, History, Spanish Language and Literature, Political Science, Religion, and Sociology. Opportunity to enroll in courses at the Universidad de Salamanca in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Field trips to such sites as Segovia, Toledo, Madrid, El Escorial, Cordoba, Granada, Morocco and Portugal. Internship opportunities as teaching assistants in Spanish primary and secondary schools
