Description
There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in Oaxaca, Mexico to those in the medical and health professions. Adelante is able to place both students and those who have already graduated, however some positions may require previous experience in the medical field. Volunteers may work in dental and medical clinics providing low-cost healthcare to the local community including emergency ambulance services and alternative medicine such as floral, herbs and acupuncture. Candidates with advanced Spanish language skill may also have the opportunity to work on scientific research on the consumption of amaranth and how it can assist children overcoming malnutrition. All volunteers will take a two week intensive Spanish language course at the beginning of the program. Highlights
1. Volunteers work approximately four hours a day assisting the local community
2. Programs begin on the first Monday of each month and range between one and six months
