Winterline Global Skills Program Reviews
Great Experience and Great Program.

When my daughter introduced me to Winterline, the first thing I thought was, "Can I do it too?". Everything looked wonderful. I supported her without hesitation. Although I missed her everyday, and it was also challenging for me, I knew she was safe, happy, and learning new things that she couldn't have learned anywhere else. The whole Winterline team was extremely organized throughout the year. The Field Advisor's were great and very responsible. The logistics where thoroughly planned. She made wonderful connections and friends around the world, and now she's more aware of what she wants to do with her life and the impact she generates on others. This is a great and challenging year that puts them in a lot of different, exciting situations and they learn something from each of them. I'd send her again if I could, and I know, with no doubt, that she'll say yes!
Take a year "on" not "off"

When I decided to take a gap year, I knew I wanted to travel. I wanted to learn useful things, while being fully engaged and immersed in new cultures and different conversations. Now that the year is over, I'm happy to say I did all of this and more. With Winterline, we created a community, little nomadic family. We met incredible, inspiring and hard working people along the way that thought us so much about the world we live in and even ourselves. I learned things that go beyond useful information and practical skills. Responsibility, Indepence, Confidence, just to list a very few. Right now, I'm still processing how much I've grown as an individual and my place in this world. I still have no words to label what I've learned; but I know that in 10, 20, 40 years I will still be learning from the experience and the moments that challenged me the most. Now, when I say a year "on" instead of "off" I mean it. We did something new and exciting everyday, we motivated ourselves everyday. Learning it's not only about sitting in a classroom, it's about experiences. It's about going out there and being adventurous too!
A year like no other

With so many gap year choices around, it is not always easy to choose. Winterline provided the perfect balance of life skill learning and increased outside world awareness.
Winterline's focus, in contrast to other programs, was not a singular objective but rather on a set of them: individual and group activities, skill acquisition and real life experiences leading to personal growth. My son experienced first hand living conditions in several societies from the Caribbean through Asia and Europe to the United States. In each place, he got to participate in projects which went far beyond entertainment and fun. He is very proud of chasing turtle poachers in Costa Rica and helping with construction of an irrigation project for a small agricultural community. He also visited the Killing Fields in Cambodia, learning that genocide, torture and cruelty are not unique to any particular ethnic group, nation or geographic location. In India, he saw first hand how tremendous the wealth disparity can be between the haves and the have nots, and what extreme poverty looked, smelt and felt like. Those are invaluable lessons that cannot not be taught in the confines of a comfortable existence in the United States. Mere travel is also insufficient.
What Winterline Gap Year provided was a maximum immersion in the surrounding world and its realities. It was done with a plan and with purpose. The result has been an amazing year of growth for my son. He learned how to get along with peers met on the first day of the program. He made very solid friendships, strengthened his interpersonal skills and significantly broadened his appreciation of the world around him. What an amazing opportunity for a young man just entering his adult life! Thank you Winterline!
I'd send my son again

I found the Winterline Global Gap Year Program to be valuable. Extraordinary immersion into L-I-F-E.
Our son who is apt to second- guess himself and hold back suddenly was thrown into a wide array of situations and experiences. He had to show up, roll up his sleeves, and 'deal' with whatever was in front of him. He is proud of himself for having done the program. There is no question that he learned a ton of things about life and himself. He was worried that he wouldn't make friends. He made two friends for life and got along with everybody in the group. Across the board the Winterline staff brings tremendous expertise. The 'Partners' that WL teams up with in each location are fun and inspiring. From beginning to end I wanted to be doing the Winterline program that my son was doing. I was green with envy.
