Voluntary Service International (VSI) is the Ireland-based branch of the Service Civil International, a global peace movement founded in 1920. VSI was started in 1965 after running numerous projects in the late 1950s. Since then, we have organized a broad range of community and voluntary work across Ireland. We have also sent volunteers to several projects in more than 80 countries across the globe.
Our aim at VSI is to foster peace, intercultural understanding, sustainable development, and social justice through volunteering in the country and overseas. In Ireland we run several short-term projects (two weeks) mostly on the topics of environmental protection and community work. In these projects, volunteers have the chance to support local NGOs, develop new skills and have an unforgettable intercultural experience.
