2 week volunteer experience with wonderful people in the breath-taking country

I decided to participate in the program "Meet Us, Don't Eat Us" last summer. Overall it was definitely irreplaceable and unforgettable experience for me to work with other volunteers from all over the world.
I first struggled to figure out why this program is important to work on since I am actually from Japan, where it's been
accepted to hunt whales as well as Iceland, but viewing from Iceland's cultural background this program gave me the great chance to consider myself as one member of the world and reflect on the importance of understanding one another.
Iceland also inspired me to ponder about environmental awareness by its wonderful surroundings that I couldn't feel in Japan. People living here, beautiful nature and unique culture. Everything fit me in perfectly.

Saving whales for summer

I got the chance to participate in this program 2 years ago and it was everything I could dream of.
Iceland is a magical summer destination for everyone who want to immerse in its culture, discover the beauty of remarkable nature and have a real impact on environmental issues by being a part of conservation program.
'Meet Us Don't Eat Us' gave me the chance to meet passionate people engaged in a great cause - protecting whales from unnecessary hunting and raising awareness about them among tourists. Volunteering in the program made me also more aware about the whaling problem and feel connected to animal welfare and conservation issues.

I highly recommend this volunteer opportunity for everyone who want to spend their summer time for participating in meaningful and well- managed program and in the same time discover this remote and full of mystery island. Being a volunteer is also a great fun! (see what a great group we had in the picture below:).
