The University of Coimbra (UC) is a public university in Coimbra, Portugal. Founded in 1290, we boast of more than 700 years of experience in research, training, and teaching. We are the first Portuguese-speaking university until the early twentieth century. Over the centuries, we have built an outstanding reputation that combines innovation, modernity, and tradition. This has earned us the classification as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.
As a global university, we provide high standards of education and training in all our eight Faculties (Arts and Humanities; Law; Medicine; Sciences and Technology; Pharmacy; Economics; Psychology and Education Sciences; and Sports Sciences and Physical Education). We offer Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctorate courses as well as Postgraduate and Specialization programs and non-degree courses. We have Portuguese and EU national students as well as international students from 74 countries. The latter attend the University of Coimbra through a range of study opportunities, including exchange programs and Portuguese language and culture courses.
