Universidade do Algarve (University of Algarve) was established in January 1979 from its union with the Polytechnic Institute of Faro. This makes our university unique in the sense that Schools and Faculties of both institutions co-exist. We are located in Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal - a highly popular tourist destination. Over the years, we have seen a considerable growth in our student population, diversity and quality of programs, and modern facilities.
We have four Schools, three Faculties, and an Institute of Engineering - all of which provide quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our offerings include Portuguese as a Foreign Language. Native and non-native students with proficient English language skills can enroll in courses taught in English as well as in cooperation programs, such as Lifelong Learning and Erasmus Mundus. We make this possible with the University’s internationalization, which is demonstrated through successful partnerships with organizations and institutions across the globe.
